hello everyone, just wanted to ask how to hide seams on hardiflex boards.
Does mesh tape + acrylic putty work or do I need to use thinset mortar do do a better job?

there will be a bump along the Mesh. if you want to have it looks seamless. you should apply up to Level 5 Skim Coat.

oh I didn't know hardiflex can be skim coated?
also do I need to add mesh tape in between seems or only skim coat will do?

need mesh bet seems. be sure to thin coat of boral to the seems before you apply mesh tape on then boral again. that the way i do it.
there are a lot of video in youtube it will help you alot.

what are mesh bet seems? I've never heard of boral before not sure what it is? Sorry I'm a newbie to DIY.

oh I see! thank you for the tips! 🙂 I'll ask for that then, although I already bought a gallon of rj acrylic putty is boral better should I go and replace it? I bought it in city hardware so I should be able to replace it since it's still unused.

May napanood akong demo video ng hardiflex company. They used paper tape. seguro nga mas maganda gamitin ang paper tape kompara sa mesh tape. Just my opinion 🙂
Ewan ko lang sa iba dyan na nakasubok na ng gumamit ng mesh probably they could tell the difference.

When I built my house, my contractor used polytuff on the hardiflex seams of my ceiling. It was OK for 8 years then the seams started to show.
I guess if we repainted our ceilings sooner than that, the seams would not have shown.
Some people here would argue that polytuff may have different expansion/contraction properties from hardiflex which may not make it suitable for masilya of seams. But I'm speaking fomr my experience so just take it for what it's worth.

after some readings from the internet i just found out na mas maganda pala ang paper tape. karamihan sa mga forums na nabasa ko paper tape ang gamit nila. Ang mesh tape nagcacrack kapag nagshrink na ang setting compound.

oh sadly the hardware stores here don't have the hardiflex paper tape, we only have the mesh tape 🙁
