Re: Help in Sliding Doors for Cabinets/Shelves

Perhaps something like this...

*Not to scale, just a rough draft idea. Placement, material thickness, number, etc may be modified as necessary.

The dado/grooves need not be deep but just enough for the rollers to have a guide. The Yellow thing above is just a simple and lightweight guide so as the window could have alternatives for an upper railing and my be fitted as fit as possible. You may only remove the window by removing the yellow guides first, lift so the rollers may be derailed and eventually remove the whole window component.

It would be good if you could get nylon rollers tat could be built into the main window itself by a recess. The left or right one on the picture below is the one I'm referring as it is hidden inside the sliding window.

Great! Thanks, Master Jarod! So the bottom part would have the rollers, and the top part would have the guide. And they are not located on the same area, so the possibility of the whole panel door and edge of the shelf to fall off would be minimized. I am really amazed that you spent time in making the drawings pa. Maraming salamat, sir. 🙂 (btw, what program did you use to create the drawing?)

Re: Help in Sliding Doors for Cabinets/Shelves

@timber: Thanks! I'm having a hard time digesting all the text thus I created my own version. I had the same dilemma before so I had an idea na.

@neo: No worries Neo, it is just as snap shot from Sketchup*. There are just some things that haunts me when I do not do it, so i guess this is one of it. The drawing only applies to one of the shelves thus false font is kinda short since I expect the lower/upper false fronts almost meets the other false fronts.

The sliding window itself maybe as fit as possible to the whole opening. Only the roller's protrusion will limit the gap in between. The yellow guide above does not need any clearance since it is meant to be installed after the window is in position.

*I could email you the file so you may have a scratch to work into.

No, I'm not here to help. Just couldn't help sharing the thought when I read you wanted to make horizontal sliding doors with artwork on them.

Paint a few different people on the doors and do it so that the heads are on the top panel, torso on the middle, and feet on the bottom. Your kids are gonna get a kick out of sliding them in various configs!

Sir joey, mukang hulog ka ng langit.... Sayo na lang ako papagawa ng shelves/cabinet ko. Maraming salamat in advance 😀

Kitchen cabinets? Yung sa future kitchen ko kasi, 1 side lang sya. L-shaped ba yung design na hanap mo? Meron din akong mga nakuhang ganyan. At madami pang space saving ideas dun sa cabinets and drawers.

Sir, ano pa ba kelangan mong designs para ma-iPM ko sayo kung meron na ako, at maisabay na din kita sa paghahanap ko?

I would be moving to my new house hopefully in November. I am planning to have furnishings na simpleng tingnan pero may dating, at multipurpose. Problem is lahat yata dapat customized. If I were a real master handyman like you guys here, siguro ako na lang ang gagawa. Pero di ko kaya. Alang tools and training eh.

Currently, I am just gathering designs and finding ways to make the construction simple, at di masyadong magastos, and of course, seeking advices from the masters here. 🙂

(Unfortunately my hard disk crashed last December and all the designs I gathered for 4 months were lost as well as all the files in the hard drive. I started from scratch this year. 🙁 )

Aside from thermal and user mishandling, hardware are really not 100% predictive in terms of life expectancy. There are also "lemons" in the HDD industry and this is a known issue as well. Even major brands are not excluded from this thus back-up of important files is always the best way.

Nanay ko po! Thanks for the vote of confidence, pero isang malaking pagkakamali 'yan!

Hindi pa ako nakakagawa ng cabinet. Ang expertise ko lang ay gumawa ng sawdust na pangtakip sa pupu ng aso. 🙂
