it has long been my plan to install the lcd projector into its final resting place i.e. the ceiling.
mine is an infocus IN24 and an accessory metal plate and bracket is available for ceiling mount but the distributor is sooo far i cant go to san juan from paranaque for that alone. i have found the matching screws btw.
i am rooting for the 1/4" thick plexiglass for the plate and this in turn will be attached to a wooden bracket.
perhaps one of you guys out there have had experience installing the lcd this way..id like to know your difficulties encountered during the preparation and installation of the mount.
thanks in advance.

Re: lcd projector ceiling installation
What is the material of your ceiling? Concrete or wood? if concrete then you can either use tox with screws or anchor bolts(but I think this is overkill) if wood then regular wood screws will do. But if your ceiling is made of gypsum or acoustic boards then you need to get either gypsum screws or best would be toggle screws na lang. I think its better if you would just buy the standard projector mount bec its more flexible in terms of mounting and positioning, plus flexiglass is also quite expensive IMHO.
Re: lcd projector ceiling installation
By the way you try to contact Victor of sight and sounds at tel.no 02-634-1789 and ask for the SABRE BRAND of projector mount;) I think they can deliver or shipped thru a courrier.

Re: lcd projector ceiling installation
Did that about 6 years back when Infocus X1 was the thing to have.
The standard projector mounts were extremely expensive so I got one of those speaker mounts that mount on the wall, not ceiling, and installed it on the wall opposite my screen. Had to make sure that the distance would still fit on my screen (which it did).
Greatest difficulty then was finding the long video cable which I routed through a conduit inside the wall, then inside the floor, then up to the DVD console. Found one long enough at Ace. I think there are a lot more available nowadays. Not sure if yours has HDMI but the length may be a challenge.
My projector is due for a bulb replacement but will probably get a new projector altogether. Hopefully, can afford one that displays 1080p.
BTW, I had to make sure vents are not covered by the mount. Projectors have a terrible habit of getting too hot.

like i said in my first post, i am shying away from aftermarket mount.
got sick last year and that project never occurred back to my busy mind.
perhaps later.i cant say.i hate to see cords snaking out in the way so i want to do it A-ok.
@balarila,
it is still the same in24 infocus with vga port..with a 200 hours so far in its meter...more time to enjoy good movies before replacement..i am happy with the vga but when its time to replace the lamp then its time for me to replace the unit as well..there are cordless nowadays operating i think in bluetooth...but hdmi at the moment will be more than ok.
