How did the plastic bag end up inside? You may need to put a permanent strainer on the drains to prevent something like that again..

I guess we'll just have to pay a bit more closer attention to training new maids if and when a replacement is made. They need to put the strainer back if they do take it off for whatever reason or better yet don't take it off at all.

For 2.5t sulit na din, mahirap yata magsaksak ng bara lol. Anyways those shoe lace, hairs and plastic bag kayang tunawin ng solid lye plus a little hot water, pati hardened oils(sebo) ok din. Pang maintenance mo na Lang sir, once a month I try to put sosa sa mga drains to get rid of fallen hairs.

Thank you very much for all those who replied.

Job done using a Ridgid Drain Clog Router.

They did not solve the problem routing through the bathroom but were successful when they did it from the pipe outlet (the one going to the canal) .

The culprits .... a shoe lace, some hair and a yellow plastic bag .

Problem solved. Paid 2.5K for the service which was worth it.

This is the service provider I used.

Re: Clogged down drainage pipe

Ricky, Could solid lye take care of toilet bowls that became harder to flush over time? If yes, where's the best place to get some? Also, what's the best way to safely use it as the toilet in my folk's place is quite old and does not have active ventilation like exhaust fans?

Re: Clogged down drainage pipe

Over time, i've grown to hate concealed pipes. I've been replacing blocked pipes and downspouts with exterior pvc pipes running down concealed areas. Over the years they save you sakit ng ulo.

Yes brader jarod, it's very effective in any clogged situation. I usually get the solid lye from grocery stores. Bihira sa hardwares ewan ko Kung bakit. Only 99petot per kg. Just dump the whole kg in the bowl then add around a 300ml-500ml of hot but not boiling water to dissolve. Be cautious bec once you start to add the hot water it will react at once( boiling water will result in violent reaction hehehe which for me is better kasi it will surely get rid of any materials blocking the pipe). Then when it dissolves(the lye) wait for another 5-10mins before flushing it with water. I don't use the flush but I use 2pails of water which I pour on the bowl for stronger pressure. Repeat procedure when necessary.

Re: Clogged down drainage pipe

yes there will be but not that damaging. just try not to inhale it or have contact with your eyes. as for ventilation, not necessarily needed since it just dissipates on its own and besides 1kg does not produce that much fumes.

Re: Clogged down drainage pipe

It is a corrosive alkaline substance. It will do as much damage as acid solution when comes into contact with the skin, please use chemical gloves, apron, cartridge type respirator mask and goggles or face shield as precaution. Be safe brader..

please try this tool .... you may find this at sulit Ad ID 2051629
no chemicals... fumes... no electricity....faster...cleaner... and safe! HTH

The Water Ram is a drain cleaning device that uses kinetic energy to unclog plumbing fixtures, and eliminates grease, hair and sediment from lines up to four inches in diameter. And anyone can use it- just pump the Water Ram, insert it into a drain, and snap the trigger.

Using kinetic energy to create a shock wave that strikes a clog at 4,700 feet per second, the Water Ram clears clogged drains powerfully, quickly, and safely.

It’s more effective than drain snakes and chemical drain cleaners, which can be messy, costly, and won’t always work. It’s environmentally sound and easy on your drains. And best of all, the Water Ram pays for itself in three or four uses.

PAX is the leading manufacturer and exporter of PATCH/Seal String in Taiwan and our quality to be equal to the productions made in U.S.A, Germany and Japan.

Re: Clogged down drainage pipe

Not as "pro"-looking as the water ram is a pump that I got from the local grocery (Cherry, here in Antipolo). It's like a fat bicycle pump where the bottom has a wide circular rubber flange. Works well for me. I have two: one for toilet bowls and one for sinks.

Just make sure the rubber flange is seated firmly on the toilet bowl's hole before pumping down; otherwise some messy squirts all over can happen.
