Re: Clogged down drainage pipe

Here's a photo of what we use:

Coincidentally, used it this morning. Our kitchen floor drain started overflowing with water. We actually have one of those fancy macerators in the kitchen drain but, only on one sink. Since our kitchen sink has two tubs, all the clog probably came from the other one.

Used one of these pumps succesfully.

Re: Clogged down drainage pipe

Unfortunately for toilets, sometimes you can't plunge it in. Usually the culprit is a dropped toothbrush, followed by a big turd and toilet paper. Last time it happened, we had to remove the toilet! Bad trip, since some toilet's are cemented in. Plus the crap that's stuck inside has to be removed. Then the concrete has to be ground out prior to reinstallation ( i've since upgraded to bolts and wax seals ).

After that sad experience, i bought a Ridgid toilet auger to pull out what a plunger or plehe can't push through. It's one tool that I'm hoping I'll never use

Re: Clogged down drainage pipe

If you have a faucet nearby with strong water pressure, try this! Connect a garden hose to the clogged drain then use some rags and stuff the hose into the drain. Have someone turn on the faucet full blast while you press down on the rags. Idea here is to use the water aka hydraulic pressure to push whatever is clogging the pipe further along until it gets declogged. This method has proven itself many times for me. Goodluck!

Re: Clogged down drainage pipe

Is there an assumed wastewater flow?

In case flows are unknown, here our some assumptions:

  • 7 toilets: 193L/day for 5 persons = 1,351 L/day
  • 1 restaurant: 12 hrs operation; 100 customers@ 35 L/day = 3,500 L/day
  • 1 mini grocery: 10 employees @40L/day = 400 L/day
  • 2 autoshops: service stations 24 hrs operations with 60 vehicles, 20 employees =3,400 L/day
  • 3 parlor: 10 customers@ 43L/day = 1,290 L/day

Total flows= 9,941 L/day ≈ 10 m3/day
With retention time of 24hrs = 10 m3 septic tank volume (4.5m x 1.5m x 1.5m)

Don't forget grease traps, especially in the restaurant. Grease can clog your wastewater pipes.

Re: Clogged down drainage pipe

If your sure where the blockage is and the pipe is plastic why not cut the pipe just above the block, do what has to be done then glue a short piece of pipe to replace the section you took out.

Re: Clogged down drainage pipe

If the clogged drain is the pipe that drains the kitchen sinks, have you tried pouring a large kettle/pot full of boiling water? It will most probably clogged by grease scum (sebo). Do it twice if needed.

Caution: might be detrimental to households with plastic traps / drain pipes, might cook and crack them. ok with orange PVC sanitary pipes.

After pouring, let the hot water stand for a few minutes so it has time to soften/melt the grease then roll up your sleeves and start using a plunger. Get a plunger that has a large capacity air chamber so you have more air pressure to force into the drain.

When all is clear, do the hot water drain maintenance once in awhile so you don't let the scum build up.

As for toilet clogs, discounting that something 'foreign' was sucked into the toilets trap to cause the clog, plungers can do the job easy.

But if people in your house has the habit of putting out bigger bodily waste than normal and usually clogs the toilet, you should have planned on buying the washdown type toilet as against the siphon type toilet dominating the market for being water efficient.

Re: Clogged down drainage pipe

i'm surprised, i thought the siphon types would flush better due to the suction.

I've done a variation of this before but used compressed air instead then followed it up with a tub of boiling water. Was amazed by what i saw while looking through the open manhole above our clean out.

Re: Clogged down drainage pipe

You can also use a drain cleaning bladder:

Re: Clogged down drainage pipe

You can try using lye flakes(solid) put it sa sink sir and add warm water until it dissolves then wait 15mins before flushing it with tap water. Kung clogged pa din try mo Lang again. 1kg of solid lye cost around 90pesos Lang.

Another option is to use liquid sosa(liquid lye) just pour it straight then wait for 10mins before flushing it with tap.

Be careful Lang since lye is corrosive eso the solid type.
