Controller for Ceiling Fan

My ceiling fan's controller box (brand: standard) suddenly burned out. So now I have a ceiling fan without a controller to control the speed. Can't find a replacement anywhere as they only sell them together with ceiling fans. Although I placed a wall switch temporarily, the direct current makes it run at top speed which is scary 'cause it feels like its about to come apart.

Anybody know where I can find a replacement controller box?

Or at least a work around to cut the output power to half when I switch it on?

Re: Controller for Ceiling Fan

You may call the service center of Standard or look for replacements near Raon where a lot of stores cater to home appliances such as electric fans.

Standard offers lifetime free warranty. That's the company's time and tested value proposition. I have tried it many times. Bring your electric fan to them. They should be able to have it repaired.

i think you should try to go back to the place where you purchased the fan and asking them if they have a wall control that will work with the fan. If it is one of the home centers, they may need to special order the control

Call the Standard Service Center first. They entertain clients during office hours, with lunch break.

Lifetime free service is now being offered by other appliance manufacturers/distributors as well.

We have 2 Standard fans whose motor broke down just after a year. Brought it to the service center along Taft Avenue, and was given a quote that's about 75% of the price of one brand new fan. I just left 1 fan with them, and had the 2nd repaired by a shop near the village (much cheaper).

The quality of Standard appliances seems to have deteriorated. I am now back to KDK fans. Lifetime free service din. One is a KDK stand fan na lasog lasog na ang body kasi nabagsak. Motor has been. The service center replaced the broken parts. It's like new again. Very minimal parts cost.

Re: Controller for Ceiling Fan

Just an update

Ever since I bought it, the controller would always spark a bit. Time went by and the sparks grew bigger and bigger. I would clean the contacts and it would operate normally for a few weeks. But it would always spark as the contacts loosened and got dirty. I believe it's a factory defect. Or maybe a design defect. So rather than have it fixed and go through the same problems again, I decided to fix it myself.

I opened up the controller box and soldered a few wires together then replaced the dial with an ordinary switch. I figured out which wires needed to be soldered so now it's permanently set to the second power whenever it's switched on which is just perfect for normal use.

I was surprised the Omni switch fits perfectly. Or at least two of the four screw holes do. Blue wire isn't connected to anything.
