I've been hearing this 'hurricane tie' but I think there is none available here in the Philippines so I am looking for an alternative, can you guys suggest? The support of my roof is made of wood and I just want to strengthen it with such ties to prevent it from flying if there's a typhoon/storm.
TIA

Re: DIY alternative hurricane tie?
DIY gang-nails are a nice touch, if you have a drill press.
Without a drill press, they're painful to even contemplate.
That said, toe-nailing (plain 3" CWN) a joint seems standard.
