hello!

recently one of my fence's lamp post began lighting during rain even if the switch is turned off, immediately i suspected a ground in the wiring circuit. day after when the rain stopped, i removed the lamp and one wire snapped (badly burnt, rumupok yung wire) and the other is holding a little kaya lang di na rin kumapit, putol. problema ko yung flexible hose na ginamit dun sa wiring e naka-embed sa gitna nung poste, papalitan ko sana yung wiring kaya lang since putol na wala ako pagtatalian nung bagong wire, i located the junction box sa ilalim ng poste at hinila ko yung lumang wire, i was able to remove it tapos nung lalagyan ko na ng g.i. wire para yun ang gamitin ko panghila sa bagong wire, hindi ko na maipasok 🙁

any best way to have the new wire ran through that existing flexible hose line? ayokong i-condemn yung luma, matrabaho kasi kung magka-cut ng concrete para sa new flexible hose line

patulong po

thank you

Re: electrical wiring

Hi there seymorebutts,

Yes bro that was my problem too when I installed new wiring for some lighting fixtures on a newly constructed fence. I just hope there are minimal bends of flexible hose embedded in the concrete, or non at all.

If you are using a # 16 GI wire pang kaon ng electric wire mo, try using a thicher wire, perhaps # 14 or #12, purpose of this is so that the wire won't easily bend when it is being inserted and pushed inside the flexible hose, Oh I almost forgot this tip, before you insert the GI wire, make a small round/circular loop sa dulo ng wire, a little twisting of the tip so there will be no sharp point that may be caught in the flexible hose, then dip that rounded tip into a handful of grease ( marfak ), then you are good to go, inserting the wire with some twisting and back and forth motion until you reach the other end of the opening of the hose.

Good luck and hope this helps !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:p

Pls. do give us a feedback if it turns out well, TY :thanks:

Re: electrical wiring

wala bang lamp post na parang arko :p? or similar;)

thanks!

Re: electrical wiring

Hey bro seymorebutts, where did you start inserting the wire, did you try inserting it on the other end or opening ? Any way if it still does not work then probably the bend of the flexible hose ay makitid. Siguro the flexible hose was installed before was with the wirings na.

Will you be amenable in installing new pvc electrical pipes, embedded just a little below the concrete surface to be able to install some light fixture above that gate post.???

AH, with regards to some arced lamp post, try checking hardware stores selling lighting fixtures or home depots, you can check their electrical sections. Also mall hardware section.
Like what I did for my street lamp posts, I bought some AKARI brand lamp post fixture attachments and just fabricated the extended arms, installed it on the post then connected it to the main power source with its own Akari circuit breaker and switch. 😉 :p

Re: electrical wiring

Sir seymorebutts,

Nice handle name sir ,got this from a pc game a few years back? Hehehehe naughty naughty

Btt,

As for me sir , ganito rin Dati prob ko when doing my coaxial cable insertion thru the 2nd floor of our house , I tried it all but still no joy , but what I did was ;
I try to find the smallest nylon rope and tied it to a small nut that can easily pass thru the flex hose , then using my trusty vacuum , I taped the vacuum hose to the lower end of the pipe , then dropped the nut with the rope on the upper part of the conduit ,with the usual " hila bitaw" yun rope to check if it's being sucked hehehehe he a few minutes Voila got the nut ,then I tied the end of the rope to the cables then give it a slow tug hehehe Baka matanggal slowly but surely got my cables in the pipe .

Medyo macgyver na style pero hey , got the work done so it's okay hehehehe

HTH sir seymorebutts 🙂

Nice tip ^bro.

^bro seymore, late na pero sana bago mo hinila previous wire eh tinalian mo na ng GI wire;) sa other end.

There's another way using fish tape pero sadly mahal dito sa atin, si suking panda meron. Another installer which I worked with uses the insulated stranded GI wire(yung makapal na gamit sa radio towers, kasi it does not bend but based from my experience eh up to 10m Lang sya effective, more than that ayaw na maitulak. I still have it with me Kung gusto mo borrow, saan ba area mo?

Re: electrical wiring

thank you all sirs for the help

and yes, got that handle from that "educational" pc game 😉

btt, yes, the wire was already inserted dun sa hose prior buhusan yung poste, might be also the reason puro bend at lumiit yung diameter nung hose 😡

actually plan ko talaga yun na lagyan ng gi wire yung kabilang dulo bago ko hilahin yung lumang wire unfortunately the cut is inside the post, hindi na kayang hilahin sa lalim.

as for inserting the gi wire on the other e ni-try ko rin but nasa flooring na and i will have to bend the wire at 90degrees, parang mas mahirap na

but thank you all very much for your suggestions, i really appreciate it:thanks:

Re: electrical wiring

sir just an idea, I haven't tried it but it seems you need a material that can bend and still sturdy, what if you use small hose that can fit inside the tubing (maybe 1/8"). Push the hose until it passes the bends on the tube, then insert a wire or alambre. That way, you will have a smooth bend, kinda like a rail for the wire to pass thru. let us know what you think.

Hey bro, hope you can post a pic of the poste or wall needed to insert the wiring para matumbok natin ang solution, hirap kasi mag bigay ng possibleng tamang solution sa problem mo. Parang nang huhula lang kami dito.

Re: electrical wiring

Re: electrical wiring

Thanks bro for posting up a picture of your entrance gate. Now if the junction box below is too tight and probably bended, then I guess you really have to start inserting electrical wires from the top going down. OH by the way does the piping inside still have the electrical wiring o wala na.

Anyway bro if it does have some wires inside better shut off first its connection just to be safe from being electrocuted, kung wala na eh di oks lang. If you will review past replies of mine, I suggested before if you are amenable to install new piping by embedding the flex hose a slight deeper than the outer surface, looking now at your picture, sure it will be matrabaho.

Duon sa top, puede siguro trabahuhin and will be easier, remove the lamp at sinsilin yung top area sa middle little by little exposing the piping na naka baon, then from there I guess you can plan what to do if it need additional piping attachment kung masyadong maiksi na. Still I am guessing here a little 'coz hindi ko nakikita ang tunay na situation sa top. 🙁
