Hi, any suggestions on how to fix overhead water tank leaks? Is it ok to use Waterstop super sealant or Marine epoxy? The holes are small, like nail holes only. We're thinking of using the Marine epoxy but are they safe since the tank contains water that is used for drinking, washing, etc?
Thanks in advance for your inputs/suggestons!
Re: How to fix water tank leaks?
When my overhead tank developed a leak, I used silicone sealant to cover it. Its dries quickly and is totally waterproof. Its been over 2 years now and the silicone sealant is still holding well. Be sure to seal the hole from the inside of the tank and make sure its thick and cover a wide area around the hole.
A tube of Pioneer Silicone Sealant is less than P100 pesos.
Re: How to fix water tank leaks?
Hi Topdog, thanks for the suggestion. Sayang lang, natapos na ang repairs with waterstop super sealant and marine expoxy. Don't know how long it would last though since it was only sealed from the outside. We were afraid of putting additonal pressure within the tank by climbing into it so nothing was done from the inside.
Will keep it in mind for future repairs. Thanks again!

Tanks having numerous minute holes means it is reaching its useful life. Time to change soon. You might be able to repair the leak but in time it will develop a leak in an area adjacent to the repaired leak.
