Re: how to intall euro hinges (suugestions/comments)

There's a forstner bit just just for that. The hinge fits exactly in the resulting hole. There are cheap ones for sale, but I got mine at Panda for around 1k a couple years ago. All you need is a drill, try square, and pencil.

BTW I'm not installing any concealed hinges for the next few years, so let me know if you want to buy it. The bit is in pristine condition after making just a few holes. What I need right now is a safety harness for working in the roof 🙁

measurements?

you need a 35mm forstner bit.

conventionally, the edge of the hole should be 7mm from the edge of the wood (or plywood, mdf etc)

if you are going to make a lot of these and to show off then there is a jig made by rockler

goodluck!

Re: how to intall euro hinges (suugestions/comments)

depending on the hinge manufacturer, the standard measurement in installing euro or concealed hinges varies from 3 to 7mm. now if I were to install the hinge I mark the hole in the center of the bit. so half of 35mm is 17.5mm plus the space desired will give you the center of the bit. example: 17.5mm + 5mm(which I normally use) will give me a 22.5mm center location...
I often use a drill press for this with a fence that I can set. So all I need to do is mark the location of the hinge and cut away, I also adjust the depth of cut in the dp with either a scrap of the actual material cutting slowly and creeping to the desired depth without blowing out the opposite side. If I need to do several doors, I just put a stop block and cut away.....

I saw a drill stand for sale, it looks like just the thing for the job. It won't be as accurate as a drill press but you won't have to wrestle 204cm cabinet door into place.

i'll just be using a drill to drive it, ano pwede gawing depth stopper?

Re: how to intall euro hinges (suugestions/comments)

longer than those eh awkward na ang drill press.

salamat

Re: how to intall euro hinges (suugestions/comments)

i have tried installing 3 hinges on 6 footer plywood/plyboard doors with no problem..basta heavy duty yung hinges.

pero mabigat ang mdf..3x the weight yata versus the plywood..kaya dagdagan ng hinges accordingly.

Basta ako, I prefer using a Bosch drill or drill/driver for that matter.
even a manual hand drill will work and tama recommendation ni Doc V. you can use the bit as a reference for depth....
