Re: how to remove old vulcaseal?

@ shinpo,

My answer to this is based only on experience, we all know this type of sealant whatever brand, is waterproof of course, but they are not chemical or some mineral spirit proof, they would somewhat or usually dissolves in gasoline of lacquer thinner.

Try it, it might help you coz that is what I usually do, soak a piece of rug with gasoline or lacquer thinner, wipe off the remaining old sealant after scraping the thicker portion and it dissolve little by little until the surface of the GI roof is ready for a new application. 😉

Sorry bro but I am not sure or aware of any solvent or solution sold for easy removal of these type of sealants.

Re: how to remove old vulcaseal?

Cured vulcaseal is hard and very tough. I doubt if gasoline can soften it, but worth a try.

Solvent for cleaning Aliphatic solvent or lacquer thinner

Worth to try, though the website didn't specify if this is cleaning for cured or uncured. You can try sending bostik an email inquiring about cleanup of cured product 😉

gaas is kerosene. perhaps you can add paint thinner on the list.
