Been experimenting on laminates. However, there were some rugby goo on the surface of the white textured laminate 😮 -- any suggestions on how to remove them?
Thanks in advance and happy holidays everyone!
Re: How to remove rugby after it sets
when we were kids, we uncovered the fact that styropor when doused with some amount of gasoline can be melted into something like a contact cement.
i am sure similar chemicals (i.e. benzene derivatives, like xylene) can remove it...a commercially available gum and tar remover (3M) is another excellent product but expensive at more than 300 pisotas a spray can..
happy experimenting!

^Thanks V. Will look for that product at Ace or True Value
Re: How to remove rugby after it sets
3M adhesive remover (aerosol type) is the best. Violane is correct nasa P300 for a can of aerosol. Ginagamit ko rin siya pang alis ng adhesive sa car body without damaging the paint.
But for laminate I'm using only lacquer thinner for removing the adhesive & cleaning.
Dapat maayos paglagay mo ng contact cement (rugby). Wipe out the excess rugby before they dried.
Re: How to remove rugby after it sets
i checked the can of the 3M..yes it contains xylene..a derivative of benzene..highly flammable stuff..but the 3M has only a small amount of it..as the active ingredient...in pure form, it is much stronger than lacquer thinner or acetone in melting away paints and the like.
good that bryant..the master laminate worker chimed in.:lv:
happy holidays braders..
more projects!!!

Yun nga e, na-dry na yung rugby, will lacquer thinner still work or the adhesive remover na lang?
Re: How to remove rugby after it sets
Yup! Lacquer thinner will do the job. Lalambot yun dried adhesive then wipe it with rug. Lacquer thinner will not harm your laminate.
I only use 3M adhesive remover in removing stubborn adhesive & sealant sa mga painted surface and other plastic material na re-active sa lacquer thinner.
