i'm kinda not sure if i understood this perfectly, correct me if i'm wrong (paint noob here).. i'm renovating my room and retained a wall made of plywood, while the rest is replaced with new gypsum boards. do i prime and seal both materials with stain halt, then i can coat it with boysen healthyhome color?
, yes, you can prime and seal it using stain halt (now are rare entities at ACE), then coat them with any acrylic or latex paint, or even enamel...stain halt goes with anything eh.
but there are primers now for wood which can take up acrylic latex paints..i am just not sure exactly about the brands but they should be available by now..spend time reading the labels at mall hardwares..

Hi thejay. I believe flat wall enamel should do the trick since its's enamel-based with a matte [almost] finish. Its even intended to be used as a primer before applying putty and top coat [as per instruction from Boysen Flat Wall Enamel]
Just sharing, not sure if this helps...
I made a cabinet a few years back. Collapsible siya and the pieces [3/4" plybpoard] are joined together by black screws. Reason for using latex is for interior only while the outside is to be wrapped in vinyl sticker. Anyways, what i did was apply flat latex as first coat, sand it, glazing putty then sand it again. Lastly I applied 2-3 coats of gloss latex. The finish is almost the same as enamel and till now ok pa naman.
