Master/s, suggestion on GI pipe gate painting... during the years, our gate paint was easily deteriorated due to many factors, i guess one of them is probably my wrong approached in preparations and applying colors.. the paint was easily peeled/cracked in few months.

Would love to hear your experiences from you masters! :thanks:

Re: Need ADVISE painting GI pipe gate

I am not a master on this, but I think GI pipe develops a thin coating of zinc carbonate on top of the zinc coating, this can be brushed off (steel brush) prior to painting.

Re: Need ADVISE painting GI pipe gate

Likewise not a master here but had quite a number of GI pipes made/fabricated into something, but before any painting is done, whether new or old pipes, I usually do sand them all to minimize or remove the zinc coatings or rust on the surface, wipe it with mineral spirit before applying 2 or 3 coats of metal epoxy, let dry completely before applying 2 coats of the preferred final finish.

Hope this helps !! 😉
