Hi guys.

I have just finished changing the rotten lawanit walls of our stock room with Hardiflex. I am contemplating on using this Elastomeric paint ( http://campbridge.com/Color%20Chart.html )
My question is do i need a primer before applying this elastomeric paint to hardiflex?
and can I also use this to paint wood, which is already painted. Parang isang pintura na lang sana bibilhin kung sakaling puwede rin sa kahoy. TIA

Re: Painting Hardiflex

sa pagkakaalam ko po chief pwede nang hindi mag primer sa elastomeric paint - pwede po siya sa kahoy.. very thick and durable paint for waterproofing.. kaya lng po.. since sa loob ng stockroom niyo gagamitin - di exposed yung walls sa water and harsh conditions.. medyo mas mahal po kasi elastomeric paint - kung gusto niyo makatipid - you could try cheaper types of paint 🙂

Re: Painting Hardiflex

Hey stambudu,

Since you will be using Hardiflex for your stock room walls, may I suggest using the Flexseal gloss type of elastomeric paint, and yes there is no need to prime your new walls, you can apply paint directly using several coats to get an even sheen but be sure to apply some putty on the nail heads first so to seal it and prevent rusting. You can use it also on the previously painted wood as you mentioned/stated. I just hope you don't confuse the concrete elastomeric flexseal with the ceramicoat elastomeric flexseal which is for roofing use.

If you find the Cambridge Flexseal paint a bit expensive, you can try Boysen Gloss Acrylic base latex paint, it works just the same.

Good luck on your wall painting project ! 😉

Re: Painting Hardiflex

ok rin yan flexseal i have been using this for my projects. kapit bahay ko lang kasi sila hehe.

no need for primer. but to achieve the color that you want. paint it white muna. sa recent project ko nag titipid yung mayari so direct application but it turn out to be darker shade. sa hardiflex ko rin na paint.

What we do is thin out the paint acrylic paint 50-50 with water for first coat..We call it a mist coat which seals the jointing filler and the hardiflex surface..
When thats dry apply 2 more coats of undiluted paint.

Primer is always needed. You should paint 1 primer before using Elastomeric paint. Will increase the durability of paint.
