Id like to ask for suggestions on how to burglar-proof sliding glass doors and windows. We will be installing Analoc Finished aluminum sliding glass windows and I plan to secure it with steel grills. Probably 10mm round bars and flat bars (interior side).

something like this:

My bigger concern would be how to secure the main sliding glass door at the living room. It is composed of 4 Panels (.60m each) for a total of 2.40M total width.

note: i d not own these pictures. (reference only)
Any suggestions would be highly appreciated. thank you very much 🙂

There are contact (magnetic) switches that you can install on those doors. Many of these switches are part of an entire alarm system.

When I built my house, I got a whole system from a company called Fairetech. You may want to check this out: http://fairetech.com/

They also sell in many hardware shops. Look here:

It's fairly common to have an outer set of steel-grill folders protecting the sliders,
and the grilles offer a chance at artful, decorative metalwork.

If however you mean to "attach steel grilles to the sliding doors"...
Make sure you consult with the Aluminum/Glass fabricator, because the steel can
add considerable weight to the Anolok-finish siding doors, potentially exceeding
what the doors' track-wheels (and even the track) can support. There are heavy
duty wheels and heavier-gauge track, but the fabricator might not install them if
he is kept out of the loop.

Place a 2" x 2" between the sliding door and the wall. This should be on both doors. The assumption is that the sliding portion is in the inner part and the fixed portion is on the outer part. It will prevent you from opening it from the sliding doors even if you have the key.

Also, invest in deadlocks for your sliding door, do not be content with the usual / default locks, they can easily be opened.

@ mig21

Your reference picture is similar to my sliding door but ours is near the perimeter wall. We end up putting steel grills.

@boggie, thanks for the reply. ^^ This was my initial plan but , we've decided to not construct a perimeter wall as we plan to purchase the lot adjacent to it. 🙂 So the sliding door is facing an open field, IF ever a perimeter wall was constructed, the above is the best option though.
