Hi,

I leave in a 3 floor apartment building on the top floor and above me is the roof deck. During this heavy rain, Iā€™m experiencing water leak on my ceiling and on my kitchen floor. Although the roof deck was already waterproof by a contractor installing an asphalt membrane, most of the leaks on the mid part of the apartment was gone. Leak on the ceiling are now coming from between the corner of the wall and ceiling.

I think exterior waterproofing on the building walls is not that good also. On the roof deck wall, I see bubbles on what looks like a rubber paint. I read in the other topics that Flexseal paint should be used for exterior waterproofing. If ever I would ask the maintenance people to repaint that wall, do they have to scrape the old paint?

Also, we are not satisfied with the works of the previous waterproofing contractor. If you know somebody who do waterproofing, please PM me the contact number or email it to me at @yahoo.com">madho07@yahoo.com. The building is in Paranaque near BF.

Thanks,

Re: Waterproofing walls and roof deck problem

Waterproofing contractors give warranties for their works, usually 2-3 years up. Try to get in touch with your contractor first as the roof deck might still be under warranty. If the contractor did not give any guaranty then most likely the product used was inferior. Just my two cents.

Re: Waterproofing walls and roof deck problem

Aside from the warranty from your contractor, you might want to check for drainage or a clogged drainage. -- if there are leaves on your deck, they can easily clog your drain and water will start to pool-- making it a recipe for an indoor waterfall šŸ™‚

Anyway, this post is quite old -- I hope your problem has been solved!

You still have to waterproof your roofdeck before you put your tiles. Tiles, although they cover the roofdeck, serve only to enhance the appearance of your deck.
