Hello, everyone!

Been lurking on this site a few days now. Built a few cabinets and shelves in my younger years purely with handtools. Now that I can afford some powertools, graduated into boatbuilding. Well...just got into it. Here're some photos of my current obsession:

Hope to be able to share experiences and learn from you all!

Re: Balarila from Antipolo

Oops. Sorry about that. Still learning how to post on this site. I think the photos I posted were too large and my text ran with it, getting truncated.

What I meant in the original message was that I am now into boatbuilding.

Re: Balarila from Antipolo

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone

Yes, I'm building a 23foot gaff-rigged sailboat at 185 m above sea level. Sequestered one bay in our 2 bay garage. Been at it for about 6 months now and I figure it'll be a year more. I guess Noah's quicker.

She'll have a strip -planked hull in bright-finish, I.e. the wood strips are visible thru the varnish.

Happy to interact with u guys!

Armand, you must also be thrilled that wilcon opened up next door!

Kudos to you bro. I'm sure you must be a very very skilled craftsman because these builds are not for normal DIY.

I hope you post often on it so we can channel the skills even for less demanding projects.

Re: Balarila from Antipolo

Yes. Something like that.

On being an experienced craftsman, I wouldn't claim to be an expert. Did some cabinets and shelvings in my younger days (sans power tools) with mainly palo china, that's all.

On building a boat, I found that, so far, it is very forgiving. A fellow boatbuilder even once said that "there is no mistake that epoxy cannot fix". That is probably true on the structural aspect as epoxy is stronger than wood. When I get to the finishing stage, though, I''ll have to be more exacting as mistakes cannot be easily hidden. What I find most challenging at this point is measuring and remeasuring many times to make sure everything is "square". Would be tough to have a tilted boat!

Yes, "balarila" is "grammar" in English. Took that handle during early days of Internet. I like to read so I wanted a handle that means "Literature". Stupid me, I should have used "Panitikan" instead of "Balarila". This mistake has stuck. I am now "balarila" in various sites/forums.
