I like to learn new stuff. I like reading articles on woodworking, and now lately, metal working.

I'm always curious about building things. Most of the time, I end up contracting someone to do something for me, but I still want to learn how to do it. Most of the time, after reading up, I might have more theoretical knowledge, so I end up telling the carpenter/mechanic/welder how I want things done, even if he ends up doing it for me; normally as well, their practical knowledge and experience completely trumps whatever I may have learned (mostly over the internet).

Right now, I'm getting interested in some metal working, so I can finish my car (based on the book by Ron Champion, "Build your own Race Car" [just google it], which is a Lotus 7 inspired replica). So, I think to get my feet wet, I'll get a Cigweld 135 (available locally), and if I end up liking it (even if my contractor, whoever it may be at that particular time, will be the one who will use it more than me), I'll spring for a Miller -- currently, JayL recommended a Miller 211. Maybe sometime in 2016?

I also like collecting tools. Just because. 🙂

Welcome to the forum bro ! :welcome: Usually DIYers would start hiring people to do stuffs to fix or repair this and that things until one gets enough courage to learn and do it for themselves up to where one gets to develops the skill, whether in woodworking, electronics, car restorations, metalworking, masonry task, etc etc.
And for sure there's some sort of fulfillment afterwards once you find yourself always doing it right and successfully. You will enjoy metalworking and its kinda addicting, I am sure you will for you can make so many things with the skill which not many can do, only thing is that its gonna be expensive, the welder itself like the one suggested carries a stiff price plus there will be more and more tools needed to be purchased.

Well anyways, I am not here to discourage you on the new hobby, just simply telling you the facts. Have fun and do enjoy your stay !!!:2thumbsup:
