Hello and welcome to the Philippines' newest online community of Do-It-Yourself Enthusiasts!

What is PinoyHandyMan.com?

About PinoyHandyman.com

It's a great time to be a Pinoy handyman. Hardware chains located at major malls make shopping for do-it-yourself materials and tools more convenient and sometimes cheaper. New building materials that are easier to install are becoming increasingly available. Good quality hand and power tools have greatly gone down in price.

With experienced craftsmen increasingly difficult to locate and expensive to hire, many Pinoys are doing it themsleves, saving money while enjoying themselves. Pinoyhandyman.com is the website for all Pinoy DIYers, highly skilled or rank beginners, making projects big or small, using materials that are readily available in the country. A site where Pinoy handymen can share their projects, know how and friendship.

Re: Hello and welcome to PinoyHandyMan.com!

Oops! If forgot to intoduce myself thinking that I was still logged on in one of our favorite sites.

I am tatoski, early 40's and based in Antipolo. My fields of interest are mainly in building wooden boats and small home improvement projects. I am also quite handy in mechanical devices having tinkered cars, motorcycles, bikes, engines since I was 10 years old. I also fly radio controlled airplanes and enjoyed building these which used to be made of mostly balsa wood.

Recent home improvement works include a bookshelf for my sons and a polycarbonate roofing over my entrance door.

Having said that I can say that I am handy in power tools and woodworking in general but lack the skills in fine woodwork like cabinetry.

I hope this site will attract more pinoy handymen. May our tribe increase.

Hi I'm Hot Daddiy based in Baguio City. My interests are in all things electrical and electronic. My passion is tube audio. I have made 5 tube amplifiers and 2 tube preamplifiers. Since it is difficult accessing transformers for tube amps, I make these myself. Hard work, but I think that the results justify the effort.

Re: Hello and welcome to PinoyHandyMan.com!

I'm 2diy4 and my interest is in carpentry and all things diy. I have helped to build and design several houses, mostly made of wood. While I am not a true craftsman and cannot make fine furniture, I do make and repair furniture, if possible, using old wood which I salvage from junk shops.

I am excited about this site and hope that it brings the diy community closer together

Re: Hello and welcome to PinoyHandyMan.com!

Ask my wife and she'll say I'm not much of a handyman - the projects she has for me just keep piling up. 🙂

So what am I doing here, well I am a DIY guy. Actually I was an electronics DIY till it became my profession. Nowadays all my DIY activities revolve around boat building. I'll get into most anything though mostly its carpentry. Last year, I started building a foundry but only got to the point of melting my wife's stainless steel pot, which I used as a crucible, till I had to go back to building our boat. Well that boat's done but there are now 2 canoes in the works and a small motor dingy that has to get done soon(?).

I going to be bragging a bit here but it does go somewhere ....

Since I got back into this DIY stuff around 1998, I'd say my workshop is now kind of extreme, there aren't that many tools I can think of that aren't in there already ... well actually not really, I'm sure we can think of others ... but I do have quite a few: a monster 12" table saw, a 4' wood lathe, a 12" thickness planer, a 6" jointer, a 10" compound sliding miter saw, a 7-1/4" miter saw, a benchtop sanding station, 5 routers 3 on tables, a 7-1/4" circular saw, a 10" circular saw, a pendulum jigsaw, a belt sander, 2 cordless drills, 1 regular drill, 1 SDS drill, 2 bench grinders, 2 sander/polisher, a 14" cutoff saw, a welding machine, an gas cutting setup (LPG only), a 4" angle grinder, a big angle grinder, etc., etc. etc.

Now I am not a lotto winner or anything like that. While maybe half of my shop came from saving here and there, the other half is made possible by our little business of buying surplus tools, fixing them, and then selling them again. For example, can you imagine buying a 12" thickness planer P6k - P9k? Or how about a cordless drill for P600 ... actually I probably have 3 or 4 that I'm going to keep. Why that many? One for drilling, one for counter sinking, and two for driving screws :). Or how about a cheap good quality circular saw in the area of P1k? Drop me an e-mail if you do. Anyone nowadays can have a nice workshop.

BTW, even if you have no intention of buying anything, you can always visit and help me build whatever boat or project I'm working on.

Later.

Re: Hello and welcome to PinoyHandyMan.com!

Welcome Ronfer. Cebu City has everything that Manila has, probably more. I was at Gaisano Metro once and saw lots of cool stuff that I've never seen in Manila, like a foldable shelf bracket. I still kick myself that I didn't buy several. In my house where space is a premium, a few foldable shelves will really be convenient.

Re: Hello and welcome to PinoyHandyMan.com!

nice site you got here. I used to do some carpentry back then with my dad. So being handy, i guess, i am a little. I'd like to try on some other stuff for home improvement mostly.

I'm quite handy in some minor car DIY stuff..

By the way.. HBOY here.. actually. HBOY across the boards.. from TSIKOT. 😀
