Hello too brother and welcome !! I see that you are from Canada, have some friends there and relatives as well. Anyway can you please give us more information about yourself, not necessarily personal but some basics like are you still a student or with a family already, what are your interests and hobbies, are you into woodworking or metalworking. Though this is not a rule here but you see the Admins and probably most of us members would like to know you better. Hope also you can join from time to time discussions on the DIYing basics which we love most in the community.

And in what aspects can this community assist you since you said you are undertaking some study and needing some information and knowledge to help you perhaps . 🙂

Hi bro joey, how can you tell if an account is a bot, the likes of this AndersonO. He has just posted in some three different topics a few hours ago. Is it because of his crooked English or some wacky questions being asked. I really have no idea. If it needs to be deleted, I live it to the Admins to do the necessary step of removing the account.

Kapag diretsong English, most likely bot. That's be cause the likelihood of a foreigner residing abroad joining this forum is slim.

Usually people join this forum if they have specific questions they'd like to ask (that's how I got here). So if someone who just joined and comments on a thread (not really asking a for something) in English, malamang bot.

Maybe for the locals but for foreign individuals perhaps its a different approach I presume, diba You introduce yourself and thank for being accepted in the forum, then say would love be part of the forum and learn about the different topics being discussed. That is how I see it, the same thing as when we join foreign forums, we do the same and not immediately ask a question, we slowly get in to their topics and slowly join the discussions then start making new threads. Like I told you before, I recently joined two welding forums abroad and everything went well but been having some sort of "nose bleed" keeping my English darn straight, hehehe :p Well at least its not carabao or broken English, LOL, LOL 😀

Like most things, there are no hard rules. What I described above may not be applicable in other forums. Its a combination of factors. The culture here in PHM; the type of crowd that we attract; and mostly gut feel.

For example, the legit non-Pinoy members we have here are davaodan, nomastequilla, frank, to name a few. They are all residents here in the Philippines and have properly introduced themselves.

The Pinoys, on the other hand, even if they don't introduce themselves properly, talk in Taglish. And their first posts, in my observation, goes straight to their objective, which is to ask a question (like myself) or sell their wares/service (like the one from Johnny Air).

If the new member doesn't fall into the two bins I described above, my bot sensors light up. Again, its just me and I'm not claiming that my method is 100% accurate.

And if its a real person pretending to be a bot, hindi na kaya ng powers ko. :p
