Re: hi newbie here!

Hello ihannz04,

Welcome. Feel free to jump in anytime. Maybe you can tell us what direction are heading, what are you interested in.

I myself am what is called a "jack of all trades, master of nothing" ... well that's how my aunt baptized me many many years ago. I started my DIY in electronics but that became my profession so I don't consider it a hobby anymore. Don't ask me too much though about electronics because I've long since retired from designing. Nowadays, I'm into everything having to do with boat building.

Cheers and enjoy your stay.

Re: hi newbie here!

Wow that's quite a toolset for a newbie. You can do a lot with that set already. Be careful though. I'd not be surprised if you did have them but they're not in your list so I'll say you'll need some clamps. You also have a compressor so I'll add a gravity fed spray gun. You might also want some sanding equipment. I hate sanding so I have all sorts of these. Don't use the angle grinder to sand. A grinder is more of a wood "eraser" as one of my boatbuilding buddies put it.

Cordless drill ... a drill is not in your list when this should really be the first tool you bought. No need to go cordless. A corded drill is better all around. After you have a corded drill, go for a cordless one. Since you are bnd/makita guy, try one of those. A bnd should be cheaper.

Happy DIY'ing.

Re: hi newbie here!

The threads of clamp screw should be either square or trapezoidal. Sorry I have no idea where you can get such a screw except as you said from a store bought C-clamp. You might try looking in Binondo but I've not seen them. Maybe the other guys here would know. A great source would be old machine tools like a lathe but again I don't know where you can buy just this part.
