hello forum!
astig 'tong site na'to!
i'm already looking forward to a very long and meaningful online staying time, and hopefully contribute somehow in the near future...

Welcome to the Forum bro. Try searching the metalworking section. I believe a few members here attended courses but I just can't remember now who did. I hope they chime in.
Enjoy.

Hello paparoach,
Brad, try to google Meralco Foundation Inc. and find out the courses they offer. I do believe they offer a sort of crush course for stick welding (SMAW) and only for four days which is 32 hours, I think, compared to TESDA's 120 hours. Yes MFI is accredited by Tesda. I think they offer this welding sessions during Tues, Thurs, Sat and Sun. If I remember right, you'll be spending 8K for the 4 day training. :p 😉
This info is according to one member here who recently took some training from MFI, I think sometime last month.
HOPE THIS HELPS.

Bro, have you introduced your self already, I don't recall any introduction coming from you, perhaps some info on your hobbies or interests, things you would like to finish for a project since you will be also part of the metal boys here. Really nothing personal , just bits of information which the Admins I think would like to know too. Hope you don't mind bro, though it is not a rule here but like us we did introduced ourselves too for the sake of camaraderie.

Okay, great stuff and info!
Well, for the personal stuff, my hobbies would involve anything that has to do with my scooter, motorcycle and pickup truck in my dad's garage, I got interested in the art of welding when I found out that there's so much to it rather than just making metals stick together. Also, I am planning on putting up a shop in Laguna area that would cater to tricycle sidecar-making. I just think that the usual pinoy sidecar needs to have some facelift-ing and must be designed economically. I want to revolutionize the way sidecars are being built here in our place so to speak. Quite the visionary eh? But at least, that's what my daydreams had been when I first pondered the thought of being able to weld.
Kudos to us! Hope to hear from you guys as well!

Yes paparoach,
I like your plans or vision, very positive indeed, very positive !!! It is really very nice and very rewarding to learn the skill of welding, I myself before thought welding was just a matter of joining or sticking two metals together and that's it but as time pass and did some research on the process, I found out it is not so, welding metals is more deeper than that plus there are also different welding processes ahead to be learned and the information I keep on reading are really truly amazing and enjoyable. 😉
I myself have plans to put up a welding studio or shop where I can fabricate lots of stuff with regards to what I love to do and accomplish, Metal Art or sculpturing.
Well what I can say to your dreams, visions and plans, GO, GO, GO hard on it and achieve what you want to accomplish, follow your dreams and make it into a reality and be happy with what you will be doing. Congratulations for having a very positive outlook and vision. 😎
CHEERS BRO AND STAY SAFE WHEN YOU START BURNING THOSE METALS !!! 😀

welcome to PHM paparoach!
it caught my attention you mention of redesigning the tricycle.
fyi, i hailed from Nueva Ecija specifically in Cabanatuan.
fyi #2, Cabanatuan is the tricycle capital of the Philippines.
we have around more than 70K tricycles plying the small city and so to speak, every corner has a "TODA" or pilahan ng tricycle.
yes i get to ride these tricycles but one unacceptable design of the sidecar is the very low ceiling for the passengers...hindi ko alam kung vertically challenged yung mga gumagawa ng sidecar sa Cabanatuan kaya sumasayad ulo ko and need to bend myself to fit the low ceiling sidecars...minsan me another sablay din sa design ng sidecar, yung mga metals na cross bars sa ceiling eh sakto sa tapat ng ulo ko..na humps minsan, sapol! ang sakiiit! muntik ko ng inihabla yung driver! pero fyi#3, yung bubong ng driver eh high ceiling naman 😎
kainis!!!
btw...goodluck sa welding learning mo!
ayos yan!
V
psst...
kainis #2!
haisss!

HAHAHAHA, 😀 So sorry V for your tricycle ride experience. That puzzles me too why side cars fabricators keep on repeating the mistakes they do with regards to the head rooms for the side car riders. Hope they realize that someday and do increase the height of the side car's roofing.
HMMMMMMM, JUST CAN'T WAIT NOW, how paparoach would approach the problem and come up with his new improved design. 🙂

hello there fellow southerner!
My next plans for the meantime would be to put up a carwash? And guess what'll be my first weld projects?hehe
So the biz would consist of a carwash+welding shop+aircon cleaning services...I think relate din naman in some ways yung mga equipments kasi common yung iba...

yep, I do pass by that route whenever I do my rounds of visiting our provincial retailers (dayjob)...hari nga ng kalsada ang mga sidecar jan sa cabanatuan...pero i think in terms of volume, nasa Tuguegarao ngayon ang titulo ng pinakamadaming trike sa pinas...
if ever maka-sketch ako ng mga trike designs ko i-post ko dito para makakuha din ng opinions from you guys...basta ang principle ko, functionality over form...hehe

Sir, sa tingin ko pangharabas yata mga tricycle dito not unlike those from visayas area. medyo mataas at maluwag. kung dito 2 seater lang, alam ko duon eh 5 seater sa sidecar palang.
yung low profile roofing & flooring nung sidecar had something to do dun sa pag maneuver nila, i think!
🙂
