Hello everyone. I'm from Las Pinas. Web developer/designer. Grew up with my uncles who love doing carpentry and stuffs sa province. Now that I'm all grown up na din and have my own home, I wanna try my luck in carpentry. Currently, drill lang ang electric tool ko. Planning on buying my first electric jigsaw kasi hindi ako pantay maglagari ng kahoy, or anything else. Doing some schematics using softwares before actually trying it, para hindi naman masayang yung woods, and to know kung anung mga materials need ko for my first few projects. Wish me luck.

Hello jd,
Welcome to the forums, If I recall correctly Hand drill is also my first power tool. I'm more on hand tools than power tools now. Jigsaw is great tools but the stock you can cut are limited to the blade length. I occasionally use my jigsaw for cutting plywood. Whatever you prefer hand tools over power tools, the important thing is you love what you're doing.

Good luck.

Thanks to the warm welcome.

Is it ok to use jigsaw in cutting 2x2 or 2x4 woods? Or jigsaws are only for plywoods? What other tools should i be needing to start my wood working projects?

Welcome to PHM forum bro and do enjoy your stay.

Buy yourself a good circular saw, it will be your workhorse in cutting boards and other wood planks. It will
also make cutting wood faster and more accurate compared to the usual carpenters' saw.

Welcome to PHM sir. Tama si sir rosy, circular saw need mo for 2x2 or 2x4. Kahit yung 7in lang para handy. Its easy to cut straight with circular saw specially if you use a straight guide/edge. Yun jigsaw is versatile but you wont have a straight cut. Personally mas gamit ko circular saw than jigsaw ko. First power tool ko cordless drill din, then jigsaw, then circular saw hehe.  Im from muntilupa sir, nabili ko circular saw ko sa tools specialist festival mall for 3500 bosch brand. Buy ka na brandnew. Best friend mo yun circular saw. Pwede rin convert yun to table saw hehe. Cheers!
