hello po! Boyet from the city of Malolos, Bulacan. Edil C. Cajucom Jr. for long. I'm currently a lifeguard and a swimming instructor in one of the resorts here in Malolos. Also a volunteer water rescuer (group headquarters @ same resort), swift water first responder and Phil. Red Cross [Malolos Chapter] first aider/volunteer. Previously worked [retired] with a multinational company in Makati in various departments. A radio communication hobbyists with licenses from NTC (Philippines) and FCC (U.S.).

I started dipping my feet into the woodworking "worm hole" when my daughter noticed that I was able to do some home wood "repairs" using my hand saw and hammer. Last January 2014, she requested for a collapsible wooden dress cabinet to replace her portable "cloth" dresser. I was able to scribble a design draft but haven't started it until now 🙂 [... will try to do this after summer]. Instead I began to make a light workbench using 2x2s for legs, bolts and nuts as fasteners and 3/4" plyboard for its top, nailed.

Then, I began reading e-books on woodworking. First time learning about some terms: kerf, re-saw, ripping, cross-cutting, mortise, tenon, dovetail... to name a few.

After going through tools section, I made an inventory and wish list [that was about mid- February] ... From that time, I was able to add some new tools. My last tool purchase [unplanned] was last Monday (March 3). It's a used Ryobi 10" table saw [ETS-1526AL]. Very cheap, because it lacks the following parts:
1) blade guard assembly (including riving knife) [part# 089110507710);
2) table insert pack [part# 089110507600)
3) miter gauge assembly [part# 089110507800];
4) rip fence assembly [part# 089110507804];
5) legs [part# 089110507770]

I wish I could contact ryobispares.co.uk, but there is no such details in their website. They have complete parts list with corresponding price (in pounds). While I can't establish contact with them yet, I will try to make patterns of the lacking items. I've read some topics/manual regarding this table saw, Ryobi ETS-1526AL.

I hope, I would have a chance to visit one of the PHM owners of this model, who may allow me to have a look (or take pictures). Better yet, if they are not using it any more (by any chance) sell the parts I needed [at surplus cost?].

I intended to develop my knowledge in woodworking not only because I wanted to improve on wood home repairs. I would also like to acquire some know-how on boat building. In the near future, I will try to organize a non-profit group [of volunteer boat-builders] that will extend help using their know-how for the fishermen of typhoon victims [minimun labor cost... enough margin for sustenance during the stay on stricken area]. This may sound idealistic, but that's how I look at it as volunteer/rescuer. And also, recently, we have been experiencing floods here, I will later attempt to design and make my own rescue boat.

Unfortunately, beginning next week until maybe half of May, 2014 I will be working as lifeguard and swimming instructor, whole day/whole week (no leave?, no hobby time?)... pang-ipon for additional tools. Until then, I'll just try to sneak on reading threads from PHM. And, sana po, may makapag-volunteer na makapag-demo ng Ryobi ETS-1526AL, one of these days...

Welcome to this friendly forum, Boyet.

I used to have that table saw but have sold it some years back and I upgraded to a Bosch. For the parts, you may try **************, which is where you probably found your Ryobi. Among the missing parts, I would think the blade guard and riving knife are most important as these are necessary for safety. The other parts, you can improvise.

Pyth, also a member here used to sell parts. I'm not sure if he still does so try contacting him.

Re: Newbie Woodworker from Malolos

salamat bugel and amboy!

ding, salamat din! puro asterisk yung nakalagay sa message mo for Ryobi source?
you are right about the safety precaution, that is why until now I'm not using the unit yet. I'll make a separate topic on how I will resolve it and hopefully get more input from our group. And, will try to contact Pyth, (via PM).

hope to see you guys on one of our future eyeballs [pero after summer pa siguro ako makakalaya... from work :)]

Re: Newbie Woodworker from Malolos

@ding,

yes, I frequently visit **************. but, I got my Ryobi TS here in Malolos [SamPlus. unlike other surplus shop, they sell mostly new, over-stock items, usually from Australia, pero made in China]. I also got from this shop my Ozito 10" Slide Compound Miter Saw-OZSCMS1600WA @PhP 3,600 and Ozito 1000w Belt Sander BSR-1000 (sandpaper size=75x533mm) @PhP 800 (less 300 pa dahil walang sandpaper and also my bargain for buying the old TS which is personally owned by the manager, not by the shop]
