Re: Totally Noob from Angeles City

well dapat me thread din ng photography dito since DIY site ito dba brother rosy? like your artworks thread...kahit na ba a thousand photography threads are already in the net..and perhaps Ryan can give us tips in practical photography.

anyway Ryan, i am a fan of Leica since 1993 and used an all manual Praktica slr for years with a Carl Zeiss lens. But now i am using a Nikon with a 85mm lens glued onto it..hate Canon though. Hehe

do not hesitate to make a separate thread though for photography enthusiasts here.

you are definitely at an advantage since photography will help you show to others your craft later and that is furniture making.

here are the list of the initial tools that you need to acquire to make better looking furnitures...i did not say just functional furnitures but better looking functional furnitures:

1. cordless screw driver (choose the 14.4V range as minimum) and a few dril bits from 1/8" to 1/4" as minimum
2. circular saw (if you will be ripping plywood and some 1" thick lumber boards then i recommmend 6 1/2" size or smaller like a 5 1/2", a 7 1/4 size is heavy...so expect the 5 1/2 as the lightest)
3. combination square
4. a 2/14 HP router
5. random orbit sander

the above tools are below 40K budget...roughly equivalent to a Nikon 105mm 2.8 micro lens!

para sa akin the above tools are enough..next na lang yung ibang tools..kasi parang sa photography, dati ok na kitlens..then you dream as many lens possible later...from ultrawides gusto mo din meron kang 800mm later..ganun din sa tools, the list is endless...

but you cant go wrong with the five tools i have listed down above.

now remember, you can buy these tools sa mall hardwares but there is a big price difference sa ibang hardwares not found in the malls...

i did not include the brand btw...i dont want to be biased pero i am happy with some brands.

hala, tool hunting ka na bro!

Naalala ko tuloy yung work ni Jay Tablante: [COLOR="Blue"]Volt Lander

Welcome to PHM, Ryan. I'm into photography, too, but not as a pro. My Panasonic G1 started gathering dust when I got into PHM.

Now an inactive member of Pipho, I used to join them in photo ops. The last major one was the Hot Air Balloon Fest back in 2006. Ipinasyal pa nga kami ni Borj.

Hinay-hinay lang. Baka matabunan din ng sawdust ang [COLOR="Red"]L lenses mo. 😀

Re: Totally Noob from Angeles City

Wow thanks for the warm welcome guys. Didn't expect it. Usually I'm more of a lurker from other forums, with the environment here, it would be the opposite. LOL.

@rosy, Jayl, thank you very much for the offer sir. I'm definitely sure I will learn a lot here. It's just ironic that my father was a carpenter (the manual stuff) yet I didn't find it interesting back then.

@Violane, that's a lot of info. Thank thank you. Any brand that I should stay away from? If there's the Carriedo for Photography I guess there's a place for power tools as well huh? I used to be a Nikon user but switched to the other one hehehe.

@Joey81, hehehe di naman siguro. LOL.

If there's a thread about photography I will try my best to be active on it. LOL.

Really appreciate your welcome gurus. 🙂

Re: Totally Noob from Angeles City

there are a lot of brands we stay away from..good thing we only have a few brands to choose from..better be familiar with their color...one is blue, another one dark blue, and there is also a yellow...hehe

if carriedo/hidalgo is a photography haven well on just the opposite side of it is a tool haven! all you need is your pair of legs...yes its that near.
