ive done it also but so far no luck pa e.but ill try to refine my search hehehehe sabi nga nila Google is my friend daw e.

ang gaganda ng mga designs kasi e , me nakikita ko kaso wala mga dimensions e . and yun bakal ba na ginagamit nyo is binibili nyo from H/W or some is sourced from junkshops?

pag mag ganito ba na mga types how much po yun budget /estimated cost ng materials?

Re: All About Metal Bender

Hey adzz bro,

You can check out the thread of ossie on " All about metal benders " , all who have done the bender have mentioned their dimensions or mga sukat ng bakal na ginamit nila, note it down and from there you can build one already, check out the replies and WIPS of ossie, JayL, and ryobi, if you may notice every bender made ay nag babago sa make, I for one will be making one or two benders, one is stainless steel and the other will be the ordinary ms steel , why two, coz I want to find out which will be mas matibay.

Yes you can source out the materials from ordinary hardware stores selling metal/steel or from junk shops, kaya lang if from junk shops you will have to do some de-rusting of the metal though mas mura ang magiging presyo nila sa bakal, sa hardware store, they don't sell tingi tinging bakal, ang bentahan nila ay isang buong bakal na 20 ft ang haba.

With regards to the budget, that will depend on you on what kind of materials you will use and what revisions you will add, that will depend also on the prices of metal sa junk shop or hardware store. Ikaw na lang ang mag canvas muna so you will have an idea on how much you will spent on the project. OK BRO ? :p 🙂 :rolleyes: 😉

Re: All About Metal Bender

@adzz,
you can search the metal bender's dimension at Welding Newbie thread...mabagal kasi internet ko kasi nakikinakaw lang ako ng signal sa free internet dito... i think less than Php200 lang nagastos ko cause i only got the scrap metal from junk shop 🙂

if you are into metal working, the bender will help you a lot... ask JayL and Ryobi about that hehe

goodluck!

Re: All About Metal Bender

ok here you go...

the poorman's metal bender WIP started at thread #198 at Welding Newbie under Metalworking Forum.

then the poorman's metal bender measurements at thread #276.

as you go along, you can find the improved version made by PHM Grandfather of Metalworking, none other than JayL ... and improved version of grandmaster Ryobi... :massbounce:

enjoy!

Re: All About Metal Bender

[COLOR="MediumTurquoise"]ROSY's METAL BENDER Version :

Was able to find or purchase two scrap leaf springs from a junk shop near us at 40.00 per kg.
First is a 5/8" thick with a width of 2 3/4" and length of 27 5/8" . The second bar is also 5/8" thick but is wider in width, about 3 1/4" and the length is 24 5/16". I will not be following an specific or standard size here, I'll simply cut the lenghts in two and use them as the main body for the bender.

This is the kind of metal thickness that I was searching this past few weeks, coz I wanted really to make a heavy duty metal bender. Well the 3/4" shaft rods or dowels will still be sourced from a hardware selling only steel.

These are the two leaf spring bars and have started de-rusting them with an angle grinder,
a grinding stone and a flap disc.

Have to clamp a piece of wood on the saw horse so that the bar can be positioned and clamped on to it too.

Then did some grinding and a little hand sanding of the edges.

Re: All About Metal Bender

Continuation of my bender build.

After hand sanding, I'd finish it with a flap sanding disc to expose the shiny metal. 😀

A close up of the grinder with flap disc and a course sand paper. :p

Continuation of my bender build :

The finished and polished metals with two different width measurements.

The two pics here with two different metal thickness measurements.

Ok I'll continue posting when I get the 3/4" shaft rods that I will be using as my dowels.
Thanks for viewing.

Re: All About Metal Bender

Might need really sharp cobalt drill bits to bore holes on those. I wonder how regular HSS bits will do with such hardened metal. I have not tried it before so am anxious to know later when you continue with the build.
