All support risers are fully height adjustable to compensate for any long stocks bow or sags.

Re: Chop Saw Stand

[COLOR="Navy"]Pardon my curiosity Sir Jay, Why make another extension when you can use the same for both chop saw? I understand you won't be using both machine at the same time. You can easily pull the extension and insert to another depending on your usage or perhaps you just wanted to have their own separately...

Re: Chop Saw Stand

At times when retouch painting is required I wish I had that Preval stuff Timber was showing sometime ago. Spray gun setup and cleanup for a few short burst is a chore.

There the extensions locks are now moved from bottom to top where these can be accessed more easily.

The chop saw stand has now started the purpose why it was built in the first place.

Left hand side stop block setup.

Quicker and more accurate repetitive cuts ....

Re: Chop Saw Stand

Each time the tape measure is used a margin for error is injected. One of my build goals was to be able to use it less often. Measure only twice then cut as many as needed.

Stop block assisted repetitive Miter Cuts ... there's a catch here too ... the cut burrs must be monitored or else these can cause measurement errors while using stop blocks.

If I get chance later I'll build additional jigs for this chop saw stand. Meantime I got to get back to work and build more movable shelves LOL.

Re: Chop Saw Stand

So easy to cut stocks to size now ...

I just need to make sure all length measurements are Ok. The clamps will take care of the right angles for me.

Ready for welding. Spot welds on the outside first.

Right Moji?

Bro I sent you a PM.

Do you by chance have experience with this blade brand below?

I need a 6 1/2" non ferrous blade but Freud does not have one as far as I know.

Re: Chop Saw Stand

thanks bro, btw i use an irwin tct non ferrous blade 120 teeth, i just keep it lubed with wd40 or diesel fuel (much more slippery than wd40) sometimes i use paraffin candles also if i want to keep things dry, even on carbide burrs, white candles works great in preventing aluminum from clogging up the burrs and leaves a smoother cut.....

By the way what saw are you using the Irwin non ferrous blade in?

Thinking to get this blade below for the Makita LC1230 but I'm not sure yet. This is designed for high rpm miter saws while the LC1230 is a low rpm saw.

http://www.amazon.com/Freud-D1296N-12-Inch-Non-Ferrous-Plastic/dp/B00008WQ39/ref=pd_bxgy_hi_text_y

Currently I'm leaning towards loading the LC1230 with the aluminum blade because of a sturdier fence / clamping system compared to a wood miter saw.

My other choice is this 10" below ....

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00008WQ38/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

If I get this one then I can use it both on my CMS and table saw.

Hi JayL,
Was this not the default blade included with the Makita LC1230:
Makita A-90532 Metal Cutting Saw Blade, 12 in, 60T

If so, wouldn't that Makita blade also work well with aluminum? (In general, would a blade designed for ferrous metal also be suitable for non-ferrous metal and plastic?)

Hello Guad. That is a question I'm trying to answer too.
The LC1230 came with a Makita A-87242 blade and manufacturer says specifically for mild steel only and not for use on non ferrous materials .....?????

Why .... what's the reason?
