3M has a good promo thus I plunged into PPS. It includes everything to get one started. except for the spray gun. More than half price discount compared to US Online sites. You can PM Timber if interested. He arranged the 3M promo for forum members.

Re: Chop Saw Stand

I always wanted to see the insides of a US Wire made cord ...... the flexibility and most important the correctness of the specs ... when it states 14 ga 15A it's very unlikely that it will be undersized .

the obligatory open c& short circuit testing

installed in the stand

Re: Chop Saw Stand

Cable hanger

Approximately 50 days from start this Chow Saw Stand WIP is now completed. Any additions from here on will just be enhancements and accessorizing.

These metal builds are made possible to me by the ease of using a Mig Welder. Very easy to learn and user friendly.

Thank you very much to all who had visited and watched this project build and PHM for hosting it.

Special thanks to Yorkiepap ( Denny ) at www.weldingweb.com who originated the design of this Chop Saw Stand. His generosity in sharing his build made it more easier for people like me to cut metals using the chop saws.

Hi Bro Jayl,

Congratulations on your finished project. No one could have done it better than the way you did. Another fine piece of fabrication in your collection.

Thank you very much bro.

I hope to find time now to build a good custom shop cart. I think the best way to work around the garage is to be able to collect the needed tools from their storage and have these ready at arms length for a particular job.

Thank you very much bro Jon. This build will surely help my back and hopefully improve my cutting aim too ... LOL.

Later I will build the long extensions for the bottom chop saw and probably a catch pan for the dry cut saw.

Re: Chop Saw Stand

After a brief rest I'm back to cutting metals again ... but with the chop saw stand things are a bit simpler.

Repetitive cuts is not a chore anymore ...

Re: Chop Saw Stand

@ Bro JayL,

Really a very cool project you've done there.

Since you are nearing completion of the project, do you by any chance have kept track of the cost you have incurred ?, materials used and I mean everything specially the use of the electricity, mig wires spent, etc, etc. I think this will also be a helpful info for others into metalworking who might be thinking of fabricating one for themselves. :p

This I think will be a great information. 😉

Thanks !

Re: Chop Saw Stand

Slow fabrication days ...

Correcting design oversights ...

Difficult to lock the lower extensions when the bolts are under. I'm moving these up for better clearance.

Extension risers fabrication ...

Re: Chop Saw Stand

I took some more pictures of the extensions I'm building. Nothing new just completing the build now.

This is a locally available Bosch 5" angle grinder model GWS 11-125CI. It's German made and is rated at 230V 50 hz. Although it's 50 hz I purchased it because I want to over clock it. Running the tool at 60 hz makes it spin 20% more than it's specs thus making it work better. More torque as well as a lot better motor cooling performance. However I make sure the consumables I'm using are still within tolerance of their rated max RPM even when used on this overclocked grinder.

Modularized design in building things have advantages and disadvantages. Foremost disadvantage is that it would be more tedious to build. For this particular Lower Extensions I chose to do just that for the reason that it would be easier to store.

Unlike the Makita dry cut saw the Bosch abrasive chop saw will mostly deal with long stocks thus the need for footing support to avoid tipping the chop saw stand.
