Hi guys,
Need some advise. I'm contemplating on buying either a cold saw or a horizontal bandsaw. I already have a chop saw but I think using a cold saw or a bandsaw will be much better.
If I should buy only one which one should I choose?

Both type of saws will do just fine, better than an abrasive chop saw. The cold saw cuts faster with much less sparks and has a wider kerf. With a horizontal bandsaw, it produces no sparks plus kerf is much thinner, absolutely quieter and cuts slower than the cold saw. I do have a DeWalt abrasive chop saw and have used it extensively and it serves me well but If I am to upgrade and buy between the two, I'll go first with the cold saw for it cuts metal faster and produces clean cuts on metal, makes almost no sparks at all, though it will be as noisy as the abrasive chop saw.

Now its your choice. 😉

Cheers

Ok after months of thinking... I finally bought the Makita LC1230. Review of this metal cutter is great and this is my first ever Makita power tool!
It's time to make another chop saw stand!

Very nice cold saw, great choice and you'll enjoy cutting your metals with it, just feel like cutting butter. :2thumbsup:
Just don't press too hard, just let the blade do the cutting.

Sir jantech.....you have a fine cold-saw there!! Congratulations!!
Please keep us posted on how long the blade lasts!
An abrasive blade will tolerate a lot of "mis-use"....and it "burns" the cut metal.
A cold-saw leaves fresh metal to fabricate and weld. That would be a good thing for mig or tig.

medyo nakakapanghinayang ngang gamitin parang gusto kong parang bright and shiny ung tool 🙂

I'm thinking and hoping that the blade will last mainly because I'm planning to use it only for tubulars that require precision cutting
