Re: DIY Dolly Repair

the 15mm tool steel dowel is undersized for the bearing inside diameter, ill just use the square bar instead and round it to fit.

planning to use dowel at least 5mm in size (not available) for easy removal of rubber wheel just in case it breakdown. another option is to weld the end part.

bent and welded:

Re: DIY Dolly Repair

bending round bar using Poorman's Metal bender for support.
if you are into metal working, i recommend you to build one, easy and fast to bend metal like this.

and its done!

Rubber Wheel price: Php285/piece
Time spent: 4 hours

Hahahhahaha mag wheels na ngayon.

Oz paki testing mo mabuti load capacity and durability. Mukhang maganda rubber wheels sa mga tool boxes. Mura pa.

@ultramaster jon, yeah. we recommend building one metal bender for metal working, you can also ask Jay how you can easily bend metal.

@Pres Jay, hehehe i bought the rubber wheel as is and no included box with no specifications to read, i think this were made locally.

Re: DIY Dolly Repair

i decided to weld it for durabilty:

Brossie, would the welding have no effect on the bearings internals (warping, grease, etc)?

OZ yan pala yung mga dowels na maiksi ano. ...... Nagamit din pala. Miinimum waste in metal talaga. 🙂

Re: DIY Dolly Repair

@jarod,
very minimal effect since it was just a spot weld and its not welded directly to the bearing. you can still remove the bearing once found defective.

Brossie, would the welding have no effect on the bearings internals (warping, grease, etc)?

@jay,
i used the square metal bar since the 15mm tool steel was undersized for the bearing's inside diameter. if you have welding machine, almost all metal can still be use no matter what the sizes are, as long as we think its still usable 😀

That's just how bearings are installed Ossie, they're "press fit." DP's, Bandsaw, Jointers, in your car, or motorcycle, it's how they're put in and it works. ...It does look it's just stamped heavy gauge metal that wasn't even machined, so perhaps the extra insurance is justified in the end.

I'm guessing that shafting's hot rolled?

Re: DIY Dolly Repair

hi owyn,
sorry for the confusion, maybe this picture will explain more.
on the 2 arrow where it pointing were just force fitted to each other (that is why i welded that 2 parts). i may be wrong that it isuppose to be that way and no need to weld?
thanks
