i tried drilling 2.8mm depth with a hand drill (since im only just a poor person without drill press hehehe) and as expected, heres the result.

top: ok:

bottom: not ok hehe

nahihiya na ako kay Jay kahit willing sya na bisitahin ko ang shop nya to use his DP, so i decided to build a hand drill guide - of course this is not precise, wish me luck 😀

Re: DIY Hand Drill Guide

my first ever weld of 7018 with bubles on the end part.

first try:

2nd try:

as per feedback from expert - Jay O hehehe

I'm guessing that you have your rod to far away from your work. Also try maybe a little more amps and at the end of the bead do a circle to fill in the crater then flick you rod to break the arc and clear the tip.

OZ

Did the 7018 advise work out well? Kindly send me a link so I can view the thread. tks

By the way I really like the NihonWeld 3.2mm rod you gave me. Seems like my welder is at home with it. I will get a 1 or 2 kilos to use.

Re: DIY Hand Drill Guide

@jay,
havnt tried welding with 7018 again yet, but i think the advise will work - my rod is too far from the work piece when im ending the welds, that is why even i did some circle at the end of the bead, there's still crater 😀

different rod, different approach hehe
