Re: Drill Bit for Steel

You got it.

I was alternating work between metalworking and woodworking. While waiting for some finishing to dry or glue to set on a table I'm working on, I do the welding. But I use different gloves for these two different kinds of work. I forgot to change gloves when I did the miter joint weld. Maybe that's why the joint came out perfect: my woodworking gloves were thin and soft and I can maintain a steady hand.

Re: Drill Bit for Steel

Get Miller or Hobart Stick Welding Gloves. These are great gloves.

Given that scenario I might be inclined to think the gloves will burn down but won't penetrate till your fingers.

Thanks, Jay. Got one of those leather armlength gloves. Also have that velcro sleeve. Talaga lang walang cure ang ulyanin! 🙂

BTW, Those Norsemans are great. I did use a lower RPM to make sure pero I can feel na bawat spin ng bit, kinakain yung bakal.

Re: Drill Bit for Steel

Metal Project looking very good Bro Ding. I could just imagine how much space those metal racks will free when more wood is stored there.

For the lower portion rack arms the suggestion of Bro Rosy to install gussets is a good idea. Not very difficult to cut since you have a chop saw. Full welding not required too but I do it any how but really not necessary.

This is the Norseman Drill Magnum series bit set that Bro Ding got. I myself have one and use these to drill mild and stainless steel. With proper usage these bits perform very well.

Get yours. Only 2 sets remaining and reserved now for Forum Members only. These are loots and once gone won't be back at the same prices anymore.

Re: Drill Bit for Steel

Pakulam ka na, Bro Rosy. These bits are really worth it. Ang sarap kumayod ng bakal. Never used anything like it before. You can check internet prices and see what value Ama-Jay is offering.

Yehey! Ako naman ang mangkukulam ngayon!

Re: Drill Bit for Steel

Ginanahan ako over the weekend. My son's home, too, so me katulong ako.

Managed to weld some gussets, make another set of brackets for another rack, and fabricate a frame of a work surface.

Bulu-bulutong pa rin ang welding pero, at least, ngayon kumakapit na.

Re: Drill Bit for Steel

Thanks, Rosy. More coming.

Nakakatamaran ko lang pintahan. Kasi gusto ko magamit na kaagad.

Yes, Jay, most were on the floor and some makeshift palo china sawhorses. Nabubulok na yung sawhorses so nakakatakot na.

I'm also doing this for peace and harmony.

Umiinit na kasi ulo ni Mrs pag napapansin na pasikip nang pasikip yung garahe niya.

A little advice lang ding sa finished rack,

Don't prolong it unpainted, soon you will see those angle bars turning brown due to rust caused by damp air or humidity. An epoxy metal primer will do and it will help a lot in preventing rust build-up. Pag kinalawang yan, magiging matrabaho pa, you will be wire brushing it pa then applying some coats of rust converter before applying the metal primer and perhaps a final finish top coat if you so desire. 😉 :p
