Hey guys,
As I mentioned in my introductory post, I'm planning on taking a welding course at MFI next month (MIG) and was wondering if anyone has gone through any of the courses? The only post that I came across was somebody getting a tour of the place but didn't have the time to enroll. I've never done any welding before but I figured taking a short course will speed up the learning process as well as help me figure out if I even like it or not.
Would love to hear your thoughts and/or suggestions!
Hi erny,
According to a good friend who took some welding course two years ago from TESDA, before one enrolls in
Mig welding, one has to enroll first in SMAW ( Stick welding ), learn the process and techniques and will have to
pass the tests the instructors will give to be able to get a welding certification. There are lots of tips and tricks
when learning the basics of stick welding and one need to understand and familiarize himself with this.
Correct me if I am wrong but I do believe that is the same with other institutions that give welding courses, I am
not discouraging you from taking welding courses as myself would love to learn other welding processes out
there, the problem is the availability of free time that is why rely na lang ako sa different videos on welding sa YouTube.

Having interest on learning the process of welding, means you like to know and learn about it. And having a basic education, studying its fundamentals and applications, regarding to these fields is also a must. Later on, if you might decide and want to continue into these field, at least, you have a knowledge on it. In my own opinion, there are some advantages when enrolling in an institution, rather than self educating yourself. Anyway, you decide. How do you want to learn it? Through Schooling or Hands-on experience?
