So i thread using the search function but it does not show any results.

As the title suggest and as my first post and inquiry to the community,

does anyone knows if HELICOIL is locally available? Where?

I Googled it and the closest is SG. Titan Fast.ening Inc and named as Powercoil.

I badly need it for my project restoration of 1980 Honda CB650. I have 1 main crankcase cylinder bolt that is stripped and about 6 of the cylinder head/cam shaft cover as well. Sizes i need is M8 and M6.

If there's a good fellow member out here willing to help a brethren, I am forever be indebted 😀

Seriously, I am willing to pay to get the job done.

If not, I guess i may have to order one for myself.

Thanks guys!

Re: Helicoil

I saw a thread repair kit at Panda Binondo. Might not be helicoil brand. It was located inside the glass wall display opposite the machinist vise display rack.

Re: Helicoil

hi av973. when was it? thanks for the reply. do you know anyone there that i should talk to and not the usual ATE?

funny i called earlier when JayL gave their number but the lady that answered says none available. i guess it happens when the ATE is too lazy or too tired to attend any more inquiry. FUNKY! I hate driving there and waste time and gas only to find out its either really not available or too expensive. that's why calling prior is important to me. I lived down south and driving to manila is the last thing i would do to close the deal.

The ladies at Panda are pretty competent as far as I know. This usually happens when communications go awry. Mostly when a customer ask for something that they have a hard time describing and the so called ate who couldn't relate.
Now if you ask for Helicoil as a brand/item, they might not carry it and the ate might have told you its not available, but an equivalent could available as Ariel mentioned... Asking for a thread repair kit might be vague as well since there are several ways and kits to repair threads....
Out of curiosity, what did you ask for kay ate?

Look for Edward, he is one of the owners... In case they have it, he should know.

[COLOR="DarkRed"]Pls. forgive me for asking but did you try to get in touch with those companies you mentioned?

[COLOR="DarkRed"]I thought you were willing to spend for it just to find one? You should have specified that you are on a budget 'coz Mario's Mill supply is one of your best bets.:)

[COLOR="DarkRed"]You may have to visit the stores personally 'coz sometimes the owner's are too busy to assist phone inquiries. Sometimes your predicament of distance is outweighed by the urgency of your need. Try to Google Caloocan Sales, a famous source of motor bike aficionados especially big bike owners. When I had difficulty looking for a timing chain for my Kawasaki Xanthus 400 they imported the part for me directly from Japan. I paid more for it but it ended my problem of looking for old parts w/c restorers almost always have difficulty.

Re: Helicoil

hey guys! i appreciate everyone of you for taking the time to respond to my inquiry.

as for the Ate that picks up the phone, I specifically said "Helicoil or its equivalent thread repair kit or yung coil thread insert repair kit" because I thought thread repair kit maybe interpreted as the regular taps.

Mario Mills is good in quickly answering my inquiry. Though I was shock talaga sa price, way pass doubled on internet prices of the actual Helicoil. And if its the "equivalent type" way too pricey.

I thought you were willing to spend for it just to find one? You should have specified that you are on a budget 'coz Mario's Mill supply is one of your best bets.

Hahaha. I thought so too! 😀 I apologize I didn't started that way. I should've stated my budget clearly.

I would think that the price of this thing I am looking in the market is close to that margin.

Ah yes! the notoriously priced store for an oem or aftermarket parts for bikes. Couldnt blame the market as they were the only one that has plenty of inventory of parts. JT Triumph too but not that much compared to CS. When I rebuild my carbs it cost me a fortune, Bought a complete engine gasket kit from them too but has to be ordered first and waited 3 weeks. Until I found out the model of my bike is widely available in the US, CANADA, Germany and yes Japan too on EBAY. I just shrugged after I found out the parts is available at about 40-50% cheaper than the actual amount I paid. Surplus is cheaper by the dozen too. Oh well...

Anyways, THANKS A LOT GUYS! At least I now have a ball park figure how much it would cost me locally.

If there are still somebody out there reading this thread and know of a place I can get it at about the HALF the initial price that I have got above, I might take it. Otherwise, ebay or amazon is the way to go. Willing to wait na lang muna ako. hehehe

Cheers guys!

Re: Helicoil

Well then good luck to you if you are willing to wait if it will be sourced from abroad. Now looking for half the price the original one, I don't think you'll ever find one locally. Maybe this helicoil kits or similar make are not manufactured locally. Well not really sure if these kits are manufactured here so you can correct me if I am wrong !!

Them sellers may be importing them as well as bulk and they also have to pay for some shipping and other taxes that is why prices are a bit high just to recover some investments. 😉

What do you think bro, does it make any sense ?

Again, good luck !!! 🙂

Yep. I get it. 😉 I am too cheap eh? for expecting about half of that initial posted price.

If they ordered in bulk and uses sea freight, it shouldn't be like twice of that internet price me still thinks. could be lower if direct from manufacturer or importer. maybe 15 to 30% markup? I get it. But then again, storage and rarity of it, plus the limited knowledge of this item to the general repair garages could be the reason. or perhaps the addition of outrageous custom and tariffs . Business is business I know. 😎
