During my long trips a lot of times, my loads cannot fit in the car.
Even if my car got a lot of room for baggage and cargoes, my family always manage to fill it up until it squeeze tight.

And this is basically the reason for this project "Rear Carrier"

Here is my car.
The rear carrier are to be set up not surprisingly at the rear. Just below the bumper.

Re: Homemade Rear Carrier

At first im thinking of making one like this.

But later on i realize that square tubes compared to round tubes are not easy to find here in manila.

Re: Homemade Rear Carrier

Instead of one receiver, i made 2 round tube receiver.
Im glad i did this cus each time i'll use it. i m sure i'll will be inconveniently worried if i made just one square receiver at the middle.

Re: Homemade Rear Carrier

I got this special rack for my bikes and also i have another set of racks for other things.

Racks are interchangeable. I already made different sets for different sizes and shapes of loads.

Re: Homemade Rear Carrier

This one, my other bike, is bigger and heavier (around 600lbs) than the previous one is attached by a special flatbar.

The harness alone doesnt grip so much on this one.

Re: Homemade Rear Carrier

Nice Kawis benQ! are those ZX/R 400 and 600s?

With the bike loaded, I'm curious on how you attach the carrier to the hitch all the way from the floor.

Me too. That bike is quite a a heavy load. Any handling issues for the 4Runner Ben with such additional load in the back?

Re: Homemade Rear Carrier

In loading up the bike...

I will park on a lower spot to make the rack closer to the ground. This way the bridge will not be steep.
Although it would not be so hard either even if the ground is even, the bridge will only be climbing about knee high (around 2ft).

girls, that model is not me. 😉

I was using trailer before i made this rear carrier.
The trailer is too fragile for me. You have to watch it everytime you want to take a turn.
And since the trailer's suspension is crappy, you need to choose the pavement. A little pothole will make the trailer jump.

And you can never to beyond 60kph with a trailer.

This carrier is a lot simpler. I sometimes forgot i have a load at the back.
With the bike on the back I have gone 100kph on this while on SLEX.
