Today I was able to order shielding gas so I can weld again. 80% CO2 and 20% Argon mix.

Initial pressure from factory refilling station ... dealer says 1,800 psi is standard but I get a bit more on my gauge

I have not welded for a couple of months thus had kept my solar powered Northern Tool ADH in the box for protection. Today when I took it out to use it the ADH started acting strangely. Would power on then auto dark but then would not power on after welding. If you don't use your solar powered ADH for extended periods of time then probably its a good idea to cycle these once in a while.

I ordered this one below as it's replacement and for use as my backup. I still have the Speedglas as my main ADH but don't use it for overhead welding.

Might probably be because the internal battery has completly drained bro jay. Try leaving it out in the open exposed to sunlight for an hour or so to have the battery recharged. Hope this helps 🙂

The generic ADH I got from Toolec was in a box for 9 months I think.

Took it out the other night for a quickie weld. OK pa naman.

Welding parameters ( given wire size ) are computed by the welder automatically. The only input I need to give it is the thickness of the metal I will be welding.

If you want more control of the weld then back to the basics ... gloves configuration. The choice of gloves whether you are right handed or left handed. A more nimble glove will give better movement control of the mig gun or stick stinger.

My choice of welding wire ... 0.030 Hobart for mild steel

Nozzle dip is a must to prevent spatter sticking inside the mig gun nozzle and for easy cleanup

Mig Pliers ... multi function for cleaning nozzle spatter build up , for changing gun tips, cutting welding wire for correct stick out length, for changing nozzle etc...

Clean metal joints is a pre requisite for mig welding . My preferred choice of wire brush consumables. High performance Dewalt ... cheaper than the Metabo and Pferd I currently use but not necessarily inferior.
