I'm using the wrong flap disc profile ( conical ) for squaring up these flat metals .... Gary at SIA said that they would bring in the flat profiled one soon .. this is the one I need for this job.
Ryo ... that's the handle you want ( much better that the stock that came with the grinder ) ... I saw 2 pcs at the seminar yesterday.
Hmm I might need one too for my incoming Bosch portable band saw ... i hope it fits.
This flat profile but in SIA 4" size with different grits. The perfect fit for a Bosch GWS 8-100 CE variable speed angle grinder.

I'm sure the lucky owner of the Rockler Cord Reel will understand all these posts as we designed the swivel base together. Damn Rockler Cord Reel is not on sale anymore and don't know when it will happen again.
The plates to use for mounting the cord reel itself .... boring the mounting holes.
I use different types of cooling fluids when I drill metals .... plain water, water mixed with radiator coolant, WD40, SAE30 oil, Dedicated cutting fluids etc...
I'm going to buy several of those 50 pesos bottles from SM. It will be perfect for this application as the spout is angled correctly.
I wanted to tap the holes but decided otherwise ... nuts and bolts will do just fine.

Sad to say hindi pala pwede yung diablo blade na yan sa chop saw ko because of the rpm issue..bigla tuloy akung nalungkot:(

Yes the blade needs a lower rpm. The Makita LC1230 is available locally at around 23K less. It is an excellent metal saw.

I just love sourcing out wip parts from used automotive suspension what nots. Fully heat treated and hardened metals from shock absorbers, track rods, bushings etc....
just burn out the rubbers or else it would be difficult to separate the metal
clean up using bench wire wheel
and fab out a swivel portion that will outlast most metal store bought parts ...

I need to cut this .... portable band saw na naman ....
Reset ... chop saw na lang .... not even the dry cut saw can touch this hardened shock absorber rod.
Too large a hole even for the largest drill bit I have ... two options now to mount the swivel to the base.
1. Drill 1/2" then enlarge the hole using a carbide burr or a step drill bit if it is big enough.
2. Fire up the oxy ace torch and cut right through.

ayan welding ko yun bushing flush sa angle bar ... mahaba naman yun bushing so walang side to side play.
kaya lang hindi ko na ma double nut ... maiksi na yung shaft ...kung weld ko naman hindi na removable ... paano kung type mo grasahan paminsan minsan yun loob? Ano ... Permatex thread locker plus cotter pin na lang for safety?

My chop saw catch pan .... am thinking maybe plywood flooring would be better to use than mild steel sheet .... 18" x 20".

Sir jay, does your chop saw comes with dust bag/collector? Might be a stupid question since i have no time to google it pa. Mostly ang nakikita ko dati yung drill press (forgot kung ano pang pang power tool yung meron nun) na parang me built in or accesory na ganun.
Kasi that's my problem with limited space, for example yung simpleng magputol ng bakal, messy mashado. Lalo na mabilisan lang kumilos, kaya ako either mag grind, cut drill, dito pa ko sa vacant room ginagawa para sound proof din kahit papano (ang downside ng living sa city, in an apartment with limited space, pati ingay need mo i-contain).
Which made me think, when your doing your thing dyan sa shop mo, nacheck mo yung effect ng ingay outside? I mean, tolerable naman kahit anong time of the day ( di naman yng late night hehe)
Sorry sir kung ot, but i think sa case natin living here in manila, baka sakaling issue yan. Ksi ako minsan after office nagkakalikot pa ditosa bahay, parang pang bawas stress sa work ba....
