Sam ... I don't have a vacuum chips collector on my Makita Dry Cut Saw. The saw has a small box collector at the back and can catch most of the metal chips but probably around 20% either still drop in the blade slot, fly out from the rear end plus the left and right side of the blade

With regards to noise then I can say that the saws, grinders etc.. are very noisy. I make sure I stop working at the very max 8:00 PM.

One call to Neo Abe Steel and he will have sheet metal delivered to my garage. However I wanted to practice sheet metal mig welding thus took the longer way to get flooring material for my chop saw catch pan.

I found some PC case covers and measured thickness ... 20 ga.. it's good enough for what I want to do. Problem is the size is not large enough thus I need to join a couple of sheets together.

Here is one tool to quickly measure sheet metal thickness ....

I need 18" x 20".

I started by using a Kett Electric shear ... this tool has a slight learning curve but once over with that it cuts sheet metal quickly and very easily.

The cutting head is rated for 14 ga so cutting 20 ga is like cutting paper using a sharp scissor. One thing I found is it's good to oil the cutters a bit ... I used air tool oil and it works well for that purpose.

Grip On specially designed sheet metal spot welding locking pliers ... it has one copper flat jaw so welds won't stick to it.

I finished stitching up the sheet metals

Since it is a practice run I did not dial the setup meticulously. If I had wanted very good welds then I would have cleaned the metals thoroughly and reloaded the mig welder with smaller 0.023" welding wire instead of the 0.030" I used. Anyway I would be grinding the welds thus I did not bother to reload.

I sliced the joined sheets to the size I needed using a CS with a Freud steel demon blade..

Here the catch pan flooring is ready for installation ... all joints ground flush ... will apply thin putty after primer and sand down before base coat painting.

The 20 ga sheet metal I welded together is ok but still it does not meet the build standard I had set for the work. I'm going to use checkered plate instead and charge the sheet metal welding I previously did to experience.

I like these self adjusting locking c clamps ( CH Hanson 7CCS ) so much that I added another 2 to the arsenal ... I have 8 now and plan to add another 4 later. Go get some ... you will not regret it ... very useful in DIY.

Sir pwede ba to as replacement for F clamp?

Given a choice I prefer Carbide Burr grinding than stone grinding. It's faster. However I hate the part wherein you need to wear full safety gears. Shoes, long pants, long sleeves, long gloves, ear protection, masjk and face shield. The metal shavings are tiny and sharp and can get on and in your body.

I like air powered die grinders ... more speed with more torque.

just cleaning up inside corners ... burn through welds.

This picture is for Moji ... I know he likes this die grinder. Electric die grinder works too but I like air powered more than electric.

I don't think so bro. Carbide burrs need high speed in the 20K up rpm depending on burr head size.

The smaller burrs with 1/8" shanks do work with Dremels.

That angle grinder won't do. Anyway you never fail to amazed me every time i saw your tool

Sooner or later all cutting tools dull. The good ones just last longer and cuts better and safer.

However the operator factors is in the equation as well. Good handling such as proper speed and feed rates, correct lubrication and letting the tool and the speed do the work lengthens the burr life. Jamming it into the workpiece at high rpm is just a recipe for disaster and at the very least a broken carbide burr.

Hope this helps.

As a side note I use mostly SGS Tool ( USA ) and PFerd ( Germany ) Carbide Burrs. High quality burrs that turn out to be cheaper in the long run.
