Drained the oil first .... used a magnetic drain plug tool so I don't drop the plug into the oil pan during removal.

For safety purpose I use backup jack stands all the time when working under the car ...

This plastic oil pan is very useful to contain used oil ... available at Panda. Check it out ... it's cheap.

The oil filter was stuck a bit tighter. The adjustable Lisle oil filter wrench was already having some gripping slip so I brought out the pro oil filter wrenches.

The GSR has a distributor less ignition system ... I removed the integrated coils and the plugs ...

Spark plug burns can tell a lot of story about your engine. Lots of info on the web on how to read plugs tell tale signs ....

Newbie DIY car enthusiast sometimes have orientation problems on tightening or loosening ... always use a ratchet instead of a breaker bar. A ratchet always has 2 settings : Forward (ON ) or Reverse ( OFF) ... could not miss out on this.

I ALWAYS gap my plugs to factory specs before installation

To avoid stripping cylinder head spark plug threads I hand tighten first during installation ...

Then I torque the plugs to factory specs

For the drain plug I just use gasket marker prior to install ... works well for me ... no leaks .. then torque the plug

Piece of cake Moj ....... just need to fill the engine with oil now.

TIP :

a dab of anti seize on the plugs prior to installation can go a long way and help make sure the plugs go out easily on the next spark plugs change

I had a bit of exhaust problem too ... bent cat back pipe ..

Will need a bit of coercing to bend it back to shape

I called for a helping hand .. will use heat to assist bending

Straight ahead is the wood shop. I have not worked here since maybe a year already. Problem with multi material capability shops like mine is that budget is not concentrated in one section. Thus my sections end up more of a general setup rather than a highly specialized one. This happens when tools budget is divided unless of course one has very very deep pockets to afford full blown sections.

Here the door is closed and I'm inside the wood shop now.

Shop is powered with a 1 HP compressor , a 1.5 KVA step down voltage stabilizer and of course the normal 220V outlets.

Here' s a simple helper setup when soldering wires together ...

If you own vehicles then one of the best investment you can make for it is to purchase a shop service manual.

Haynes Manuals are good and informative although others are available such as OEM issued ones.

Vinegar is a good for soaking rusted parts or tools... the rust peels off
