Just goggled this for the sake of information and knowledge for members wondering who and where are these machines made/manufactured. It seems they have really joined the IGBT band wagon to be competitive internationally.
Well, I myself would want to know the source of this brand too !!! 😉
Now I was wondering why our local units are different from their factory machines ?

Re: Manufacturer of YAMATO welding machines
I have a feeling that the Yamato company only buys the machine from Chinese OEM manufacturers (read: generic) and only puts their brand on it.
Does this look familiar?

Re: Manufacturer of YAMATO welding machines
That could be a reason why some gets a unit that serves them well while others get lemon. Kasi, walang control ang yamato company with the quality of what the generic manufacturers make.

Re: Manufacturer of YAMATO welding machines
Well bro ernie, I just don't know if this is the same company that are making and exporting these Yamato generics we have here locally . Maybe its a different entity or group that exports these yellow welders and just use YAMATO stickers on the casings, coz it is really very different from the original factory welders.
I am puzzled with this find. :shocked2: :boom1:

Re: Manufacturer of YAMATO welding machines
alibaba is an adlisting by VENDORS/EXPORTERS.
The vendors may describe themselves as manufacturers, but
that does not necessarily mean that they manufacture the
particular merchandise listed. In other words, there can be
multiple different vendors with a listing for YAMATO welders.
Even "IndustrialSupply143" has a listing in alibaba,
http://www.alibaba.com/product-free/124437498/YAMATO_WELDING_MACHINE.html
c/o "MimiG" and Joseph Santos.
The issue is further complicated by the reality of rebranding.
Chevrolet rebrands Daewoo cars (Spark=Matiz, etc), just like
Mercedes-Benz rebranded Ssangyong (Musso). Even store
chains with ZERO actual factories become "manufacturers"
simply by rebranding (under agreement) someone else's kit,
so you will often find the same welding machines sold under
different brandnames, like Yamato, Giant, Juba, Mainstay,
et cetera.
So where are Yamato welding machines actually built?
I would love to know, but on a trivia level. As a user, does
it really matter to me? I won't be dealing with the factory.
🙂
Quality control at the factory means minimizing the number
of lemons out the door, but that can't mean ZERO lemons.
That's impossible at the price levels that most Filipinos favor.
Given a minimum level of product CAPABILITY, as so clearly
demonstrated by several PHM users of "Yamato" IGBT 200,
what remains is customer service + warranty support at the
retail level, and Ever Young has a pretty good game going.
Our fellow PHM'er ernieserrano got a factory lemon.
Ever Young Industrial (IndustrialSupply143) has stepped up
to the plate, caring enough to make things right by him,
after an initially-poor response (also a "lemon", but in terms
of customer relations. Just like a factory lemon, it can and
must be remedied).

Re: Manufacturer of YAMATO welding machines
AGREE, they did make things right.i bought a yamato arc welder maybe 10 yrs ago and it still serves me well till this day at the construction site. That was one reason why it was an easy decision to buy the DC welder of yamato. Id still consider the big yamato ones, arc welder. Il be out of the DC ones for a while till i do major research for my next purchase

Re: Manufacturer of YAMATO welding machines
Well guys, in my case I bought my first locally made generic AC welder in 2003 for 2.5K and started practicing with it 'til the time I purchased in 2007 my first bulky 300 amp YAMATO AC welder in one of the neighborhood hardware stores around our area and up to this day both welders are still working and same thing with me like bro ernie, it was an easy decision for me to buy the YAMATO DC Inverter because of the brand's reputation it has carried for so many years way before I purchased my bulky 300 amp weld machine. Well another factor for the DC Inverter was it was then the cheapest in the market and up to now compared with the other machines sold at the same 200 amp DC bracket.
Well luckily my unit is not a lemon, knock on wood and hopefully also for all of the PHM members who purchased this DC Inverter, but I really sympathize with our dear friend ernieserrano for getting lemon units twice, one after another and who won't be pissed off by that, good thing the welder is priced cheap so loses is not that great, but what if it was priced on the 10K bracket or more, say 15K or 20K, I think it will really hurt more, will be fuming mad terribly and for sure be cursing the brand.
Just hope all is well with other members with this YAMATO DC Inverter weld machine.
CHEERS and GOOD LUCK to us all !!! :agree:

Re: Manufacturer of YAMATO welding machines
FYI might aswell share it. I had a strong guess that the local yamato inverter arc circling here is actually a rebrand. i also import mig machine from china but only to the big companies like Genteck,Juba and Giant. these manufacturers actually have license to manufacture for Yamato and to use their name. The machines are made under the specs of yamato so they are often categorized as yamato class welders. unfortunately we are talking about specs only, just numbers, these chinese rebrands were only given a license to make and numbers to guide the build, no exact prototype by yamato company itself. and the license and specs are the same to all manufacturers. the big deal is the quality of the parts used and how it's made that makes lotsa difference because it varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. so dont be amazed if your favorite american or european name is actually a rebrand from china. simply, if your machine did'nt come directly from where it says it's made, chances are it's made in china. now you know..

Hi, JM
To be fair...
AFAIK, Yamato Sangyo Co. Ltd. in Nagoya hasn't manufactured any arc-welders since
I-don't-know-when. They are, to this day, involved in gas-welding equipment, but as
far as arc-welders are concerned, "Yamato" is close to becoming a generic term (you
have pointed out) merely for a set of specs/standards: Chinese manufacturers like to
toss the term "Yamato" around in their marketing, even though their products don't
bear any "Yamato" brand/logo (the aforementioned Juba, Giant, Mainstay, etc).
Some "Yamato" AC welding machines sold here do bear the old Yamato Sangyo logo,
and this at least implies some sort of Japanese connection (licensed or otherwise, lol):
The subject of this thread, the MMA-200 Handy DC IGBT, bears the name "Yamato"
but not the (old) logo... or maybe it does. Someone with better eyes can check, lol.
h.
What bro janmike stated is what's probably prevalent on china made 'branded' products... and it explanes the inconsistent quality issue... you really do get what you pay for. Though this in no way implies that all china made products are low quality products. There are just a few lemons out there and in the end ... a reputable and reliable vendor is what balances the equation... so to speak.

Well pointed out bro horge, whether its the bulky AC Yamato machines or the subject of this thread, the Yamato 200 DC Inverter, have we guys been duped by the rebranding and that we only got the generic Yamato weld machines.? JUST wondering !!!
I think I will have to check also my bulky 300 amp AC Yamato for that original Yamato Sangyo logo, well just for the heck of knowing, nothing more coz what else can I do if it does or doesn't have, just live with it I suppose.

Precisely bro Horge!..and yes there are lots of dupes there, even the one's that says they are the real thing. It's a good thing we have PHM to rely on, don't you agree? Cheers bro's!

Well I happened to check the front panel of my old bulky 300 amp AC YAMATO yesterday and yes it still carry the logo of the Yamato Sangyo Co. logo, the same as in the pics above.
The Yamato 200 amp DC Inverter we have now does not have it and its just simply the Yamato sticker on the yellow casing. Noticed this long time ago, so I guess what we have here at PHM could be just a re branded generic DC weld machines. Well then I suppose we just have to live with it and be content and if its still working fine and delivering good weld beads, then let's be thankful, the units we have are not lemons.
