Re: metal working table

@ryobi,
here are photos from welding world site..id like to have a welding table fashioned to something like this.

yesterday i switched on my welder a bit just to try the welding helmet with ADF..results were promising and later today because of utter excitement i bought some angle bars (1 1/2 x 3/16, 10mm square bars and a piece of 1 x 3/16 flat bar):
Price: angle bar (354p/pc), square bar (250p/pc), flat bar (100p/pc)
ready to ramble tomorrow.will take pics to post.
wish me luck!

This is a very good idea Doc perfect for my table thanks doc....:D

and good luck for your metal project go go go Doc........

Re: metal working table

not much work for today very busy pa rin sa company
just update only hehehe
here something to add......additional 2 x 2 square tube and 2 x 3 square tube
sorry for out of focus hehehe

later apply rust converter and paint epoxy primer and paint black enamel before i place a GI sheet #18

Great metal working table there ryobi, your table top will be well supported with that kind of construction support, just hope you get a much thicker table top, maybe a 1/4" or 3/8" thick metal plates. 😉 :p

Re: metal working table

@ryobi,

ay buti nalang pala sumakto post ko for your table..show the wips ha..i want to know how youre going to make the slot for the vise sub base.

Re: metal working table

Bro Ryobi. I tried your miter bending technique on 1" x 1" x 3/16 angle bars. When I bend napuputol. Am I missing something on the bending technique?

Thanks

Re: metal working table

@ JayL,

If you don't mind me answering your question kay ryobi, maybe my answer will be close to what he will say.

I think bending the square tubing will not give a hassle since its thickness is only 1.0mm or 1.5mm so its not really that thick, like a linzo or a 15, i6 or18 gauge mild steel plate, these can easily be bent with a metal bender and it will not snap off or mapuputol compared to what you did with the 1" x 1" x 3/16" thick angle bar. Sir Jay, 3/16" is 3/16" , much thicker than the aquare tubing.

Maybe while bending the angle bar you should have used your oxy-acetylene torch and slightly heated up the part hanggang mag baga, that portion you were supposed to bend just to soften the thick mild steel.

Also hardware owners here in our place have this sentiments and are questioning also steel suppliers how come nowadays ang yari na ng bakal ay malutong na specially sa mga rebars, madaling maputol and customers are complaining too.

Thanks Sir Rosy. You just confirmed my thoughts. Malutong yung bakal. I might try adding heat next time.
