Jay I don't know if posting prices of metal here in our area would matter to any member who might in one way or another purchase some metal there in the metro manila but ok I'll just post the prices I have canvassed this past few days just for the updates and comparison. 😀

Hmmm.

Using this calc http://www.machined-castings.com/calc.html and the dimensions posted, steel costs about 45-55 pesos per kilo. Of course, undersizing isn't factored in =).

1/2" here is actually 12mm. I hope not lesser. I'm not sure but probably the reason why it's undersized is bec they sell it in Standard Sizing but what they have is in metric. ... I hope somebody more experienced can chime on this issue.

Some more price updates

1. Round Tool Steel 1/2" x 24" = 60

2. Round Tool Steel 3/4" x 24" = 130

3. Round Bar 5/8" x 20' = 345

4. Checkered Plate 1/8" x 48" x 17" = 850

5. 1" x 2" x 2mm = 830

Plates are best purchased in whole. Checkered plate 1/8" 48" x 20' is only 2,600. Lot cheaper than buying "tingi" . If one has the metal storage space then better buy in whole sheets.

For now I just try to work on different size and thickness metals sometimes spending up more than necessary. Soon if I build something I will w/o a doubt know exactly the stocks I will need and have a fairly good idea of their load capacities including weld properties.

Some of those prices are up to 15% lower than what I've been paying,
even before delivery charges. Could you point me to a specific vendor
selling at those prices?
