My brother and i were commissioned to do a prototype of a full working, completely portable (can be disassembled) bar. This is really a hybrid project involving metalworking, woodworking, painting, laminates, electrical but since the majority of the framing involved metal i placed it under the metal working forum.
Was not able to take a lot of pics as this project was quite challenging, with the stress of the work mostly i forgot to take action shots. Since me and my brother both had day jobs, really all the time we had to build this was late afternoon to early morning. Mostly ending the day at 4 am.
Please note that we did not do the welding on this project as we dont have that capability yet so we outsourced that. Here it is mocked up already, making the perforated panels fit into the frame
No pics of the metal prep, i jump to the painting part. Initially it was supposed to be powder coated but given the condition of the metal and time constraints the clients decided to go with auto acrylic instead. Painting was really challenging due to the number of parts involved.

Re: mobile bar
I stretched the working time as much as i could as the deadline was looming, having sprayed well into the evening. Luckily no one complained
With top, side panels mocked up
Re: mobile bar
Here is the final look, little touch ups needed but basically ready to go.
I now officially dislike laminates, it is quite fragile especially the edges. Once damaged cannot be retouched. I guess i need more practice with this material
Forgot to add that the main requirement was that it needed to fit a sedan once fully disassembled.

Very nice project..very challenging indeed coz i can imagine working from late afternoon to early morning..its an energy zapping situation. I can remember myself when i was building my son's bed frame, my very first woodworking project.
Two-thumbs up for this project...:2thumbsup:

ganda! bottles up. I have an internet shop and would want to convert the counter into a minibar at night when older gamers are my customers.
