Yes this is true and the practice here in our country, simply disconnect the terminals from the battery before doing any kind of welding in our vehicles to avoid some sort of battery discharge. Experienced this several times in the past when some parts need some repairs or welding in my vehicle.

i don't have any experience in welding but given that there is an electrical current passing thru the welding rod and the metal your welding, it's better to remove the terminal wire to the battery for safety reason, especially the ground wire - it only takes you about 1-2 minutes to remove the wire :-). vehicle battery are normally grounded to the engine block which is isolated from the chassis of the vehicle. as such, when you inspect any vehicle's electrical wiring, you will always see a + and - wire for the connection. so if a vehicle is properly repaired and maintained, the battery terminals should not in any way have any contact with the chassis, which is why, technically, you don't have to remove the battery wires before welding.
and that's where the problem is. here in PH, you have a lot of auto shops, for some reason, other shops, when they install a new accessory or do some electrical repair change the grounding of the vehicle. as such, for safety reason, it's better to disconnect the wires from the battery before doing any welding ... cheers

Boo!

Not necessarily, ang importante malakas ang electrical power source mo at
mayroon kang separate circuit breaker or fuse box na 100 amperes, also make sure
your machines and powertools are single phase.
