I doubt if these are still available. Maybe still a few pieces from old hardware stores. I've been hunting for quite sometime now without luck.

Re: Rosy's Heavy Duty Welding and Cutting Table Build

Tacked weld also the outer corner of the angle iron bar. Here I just realize that I should have taken pic of this corner with a gap whichn was due to the 1/16" spacing I made for the top metal joints.

If you will notice, I have inserted a piece of 3" nail to bridge the wide gap on the corner joint. I'll just apply a full weld on that corner, then will maintain a sharp corner possibly by using too and shaping it with an angle grinder.

TO BE CONTINUED and thanks for viewing again this simple process of assembly.

You can also use deep penetrating rod (6011) weaving side to side bridging the gap, thus ensuring a full a weld at the opposite side as well.... corner joint weld...

Re: Rosy's Heavy Duty Welding and Cutting Table Build

Thanks kabasor for the reminder but actually now I am using the E6011 on all metal joints that I will encounter to make sure there will be full penetration of welds on the thick metal. ;):p:rolleyes:

Thanks again. :thanks:

Re: Rosy's Heavy Duty Welding and Cutting Table Build

AND AGAIN TO CONTINUE ON THE WELDING OF THE ANGLE IRON BARS :

Ok, images of all corner joints have been tacked welded and ready to be full welded with a E6011 welding rod for deep weld penetration. There's a sort of mild defect on the end of the angle bar, image # 3 that I will just cover up when full welding is being applied.

Re: Rosy's Heavy Duty Welding and Cutting Table Build

I was lucky enough to be given by bro JayL some assorted unbranded grinding dics consummables (generic), 4", 7", and 14" for testing and some feedbacks, are they from BOSCH Phil ?. So on this project I'll be using these grinding/cutting discs on my 4" Makita, 7" Dewalt and also the 7" Black&Decker angle grinders.

The 7" DEWALT angle grinder fitted with the 7" generic grinding disc.

As of now these are the two grinders that I will be using. The BLACK & DECKERS will come out fitted with the generic grinding discs when I start cutting up some more metals for the project. :hammer:

Re: Rosy's Heavy Duty Welding and Cutting Table Build

An initial weld sample of weld application using a E6011 rod. Yes, research info or readings that this kind of welding rod does not give a good looking finish but it is surely a deep penetrating welding rod.

Grinded the weld with the 7" angle grinder !

And finishes it off with a smaller 4" angle grinder.

Guys, I have a question here, I will be welding the top surface joints with E6011 rod for sure of full penetration, should I leave the weld beads as is or have to grind the welds to keep the surface clean and flat ?

Thanks in Advance !!!

TO BE CONTINUED,
will be showing next the final welds on the top and welds underneath the angle iron bars.

Thanks for viewing.

Re: Rosy's Heavy Duty Welding and Cutting Table Build

For me .... I more often than not grind my welds except in areas where these are unnecessary or won't be seen.

Not because they look bad but because I prefer it to be smooth looking.

Re: Rosy's Heavy Duty Welding and Cutting Table Build

Well I guess I will leave the weld beads for the meantime on the top side surface but if these welds becomes an eyesore for a fine and smooth finish and affects the flatness of the top surface where the table top panels will rest , then I'll definitely grind them, anyway them welds are only in the corners.

But for the undersides of the angle iron bars, I'll simply leave the welds as is, since these welds will not be seen. 🙂 😉

Thanks bro.

AND THEN AGAIN TO CONTINUE, here are some updates :

Fist of all these will be the angle grinders that I will officially use in this table project, fitted with the un-branded grinding and cutting discs for #s 4" and 7" grinders. Let's see how they will fair with the branded ones. !!!:D :showoff:

Re: Rosy's Heavy Duty Welding and Cutting Table Build

I was at MC Home Depot and ORTIGAS Home Depot yesterday for the supposedly purchase of the heavy duty wheel casters that I was eyeing for my welding table but to my disappointment, they were sort of out of stocks or sometimes cannot complete a set so I went to HANS TOOLS in Mandaluyong, Shaw Blvd. and finally was able to buy the wheel casters.

Here are some pics.

The four heavy duty all iron swiveling wheel casters, 6" in diameter and with then a total height of 7 5/8". Each wheel weighs 3.5 kg or 8.0 lbs.

Brand is KOHL, the VIKING brand I was eyeing at the home depots where out of stock so this is what I got from HANS.

Price is Php 948.00 per piece
