And for the plates or shoes where this casters will be attached by bolts.

I guess I'll just Tap the bolts or simply drill a hole in the corners and fasten a 1/2" X 2" bolts

The plates size each is 1/2 " thick X 6 X 8 inches.

bigatin talaga yang welding table mo.

heavyweight ang labanan nyan...

bro yung wheel caster mo, be sure to put it na ma-locate mo yung grease fitting easily...
naku! pag nailagay mo yan sa bandang looban,
gagamit ka pa ng forklift, para mag-grease...:yabbahut1:

time will come magkaroon na talaga ng eb dyan sa place mo...

good luck !!!

Re: Rosy's Heavy Duty Welding and Cutting Table Build

Looking great bro.

17mm fine thread metric bolts , M12 x 1.25mm tap & a 27/64" drill bit will probably work to fasten those heavy duty casters.

When doing welding table builds ... the casters or wheels is not a place to skimp and try to cut down cost. 🙂 Heavier is better LOL.

Re: Rosy's Heavy Duty Welding and Cutting Table Build

Sorry guys our internet line was down the whole day and it was just this 8:30 pm that I was able to connect with the PHM site. I was supposed to add few more pics but just decided to continue with the welding table build. I was not even able to reply to you guys soon but just the same thank you guys for your support. For Timber, ding, jon and JayL and others, YOUR SUPPORT MEANS A LOT!!! Like what bro JayL said in his previous reply, this project will be my baptism of fire for metal working, well I guess he is right even though I have done several personal metal projects before that I have not posted on this site, well those were pre PHM days. This heavy duty welding table will be a different one, it has to be convincingly well build and sturdy, just like in my art studio, I have my drafting table and my painting easel and now for metalworking shop, its gonna be the welding table, power tools and other metalworking gadgets. 😉 😀

I have even decided to make better the presentation or picture postings since I realized that this particular project has been included in other GOOGLE topics when searched and come to think of it, under PinoyHandyMan, Metalworking Forum, topic discussions and replies and some pics that have been posted, its a big surprise really for me and never expected this to happen. I think it is something to be proud of don't you think so too guys ? :victory:

Anyway so much for this talk and just have to continue posting the WIP of the welding table.

Re: Rosy's Heavy Duty Welding and Cutting Table Build

AND AGAIN TO CONTINUE WITH THE WIP : 😀

I will still have to work on these 1/2" thick armored plates by squaring off sides and edges with a grinder, also have to do some heavy planing or grinding of the surface to remove the rust and then apply some Turco rust converter.

And these are the 4" X 4" X 29" I-Beams or H-Beams as you may call it that I will use for the legs of the welding table. Each piece weighs about 11kg or 24Lbs. My original plan for the legs were 3" GI pipes but when I saw these I-Beams at the scrap yard, I finally decided these will be the best for the welding table.

And this is how probably these I-Beams legs will be positioned or welded on the plates. :matrix:

Wow! When this WB is done, you should be turning out some metal masterpieces from it! I'm amazed how you can shift from one art medium to another so quickly.

Re: Rosy's Heavy Duty Welding and Cutting Table Build

@ violaine,

HAHAHAHAHA, Maybe for some it will seem to appear that way but really it will not, I just made sure that the wheel casters I choose to use will surely carry the heavy duty legs and the 4 panels table tops that weighs almost 50 kg each. I said almost ha ! ;):D:rolleyes:

Re: Rosy's Heavy Duty Welding and Cutting Table Build

@ balarila,

Well I hope I do produce metal masterpieces, it will be such a waste if not since this welding workbench is turning out to be so expensive considering the facts that almost all parts were sourced out from junk/scrap yards, so to just compensate the expenses incurred in this project. 😮

Bro, what I do in metalworking will be foremost related to the art. This heavy duty metal workbench is a product of passion, commitment and dedication in my line of work, it is just a table where I hope to work and be able to produce worthwhile works of art using a different medium and that is metal. You may no believe it but I haven't touched my painting brushes and canvasses for almost two and a half years now because I am sincerely studying the process and educating my self in mastering the use of this method which is welding metals together. You see bro dito palang you can see my dedication and commitment to my passion which is the fine arts and being a visual artist. :bokmal:

Just like in your case bro ding, I myself is so amazed with your project and a huge one for that matter and that is your boat, I know without your passion, your dedication and your commitment, that boat will not come to reality. So I guess both of us are in the same boat so to speak only with the difference that I am an artist and probably you a woodworker/boat builder and a boss of the company you are in, hehehehe, LOL .

So my good friend ding, CHEERS and lets be happy and enjoy our passion and that we may realize its completion in the future. :2thumbsup:

Re: Rosy's Heavy Duty Welding and Cutting Table Build

Never saw it that way but you so eloquently expressed a thought I completely agree with.

Men of passion. Here! Here!

I just wish our passion will not outpace our finances! 🙂
