Re: Simple Tool HOOKS & HANGERS

After applying three( 3 ) coats of epoxy metal primer, I then finished them Hooks & Hangers with a few coats of BOSNY and PYLOX acrylic lacquer spray paint.

Re: Simple Tool HOOKS & HANGERS

Here I'll be posting the spray paints that I used, how the Hooks and Hangers will be utililized and a peek of my small tool room somewhat a little organized but I think needed another wire matting to hang more metal working tools like drills, more clamps, pounding hammers and many more just stocked in more boxes.

The tool room is a bit organized now but will still need some fixing and needs a space for a drill press and a bench grinder stand that I will be making soon too. There's still a space on the right side of the room which I did not show anymore 'coz they are just boxes of more tools, anyway that's it and thanks for viewing these simple WIPs and hope it gave an idea or two.

Thanks and have a pleasant day. :thanks:

Re: Simple Tool HOOKS & HANGERS

@ sir timber,

There seems to be a misunderstanding somewhere around here in the previous comments and replies. I never took your comment as a criticism or an insult for that matter, in fact I took it as a suggestion, I just voiced out honestly what was on my mind and what I needed in these tool Hooks and Hangers. I made it simple and was more concern with the sturdiness of these hooks since they will be carrying tools and some are heavy for that matter.

In welding initial works are really ugly specially when metal are recycled but then when cleaned, grinded and painted they would look quite good already. :p

I have nothing against you or your high standards, that is what we are also trying to attain here high standards too as part and member of the PHM community, like in tool acquisitions and work output, I hope I did not offend you, I know any comments or replies here are always in support of the members and not to degrade one. 😉 🙂

Thank you and good day. :thanks:

Re: Simple Tool HOOKS & HANGERS

all is cool Rosy, the hangers do look very much nicer, the two tone scheme gave it a very nice personality. I might have jumped the gun too soon. Nice work... keep em coming...

@Rosy

I must say bro that the walls and hangers had really saved you a lot of space. Very organized now and what's good about the hook design is you could reposition everything again depending on need.

Re: Simple Tool HOOKS & HANGERS

Nice, the metal equivalent of a pegboard.

For primer, you could have also used just Red Oxide instead of Epoxy Primer, right? Or is Epoxy Primer that much more durable than Red Oxide?

Which reminds me of another question. Is it OK to put water-based latex (or whatever that coating is that is water-based and normally put on concrete walls) ... is it OK to put that on metal that has been primed with Epoxy Primer?

I saw someone doing that and thought it strange, since water + metal = rust. But they said that it was over Epoxy Primer anyway. Were they correct?

Hi rosy, you got some very nice hooks there. If I hadn't read the whole thread I would have thought that the picture was a display room of a hardware store, and it makes me drool.

Re: Simple Tool HOOKS & HANGERS

@ timber and @ JayL,

Thank you for understanding and support, I do appreciate it and it helps boosts some confidence to ones ego.

@ guad,

Yes I could have also used the red oxide primer but at this point in time e ubos na stock ko nuon, what I have now and used is the gray epoxy primer which I personally think is much better than the former primer. The epoxy primer hardener when mixed with the epoxy gray paint made the paint adhere more to the metal and really would make it water repellant. 🙂

I've seen metals such as I-BEAMS/H-BEAMS or even GI pipes painted with red oxide primer to flake or dettached from the metal itself so the metal surface will need another cleaning or wire brushing before applying new coats of primer. Well that's my personal observations. 😮

Now with regards to your other question, I'll start first with the mixture of the two components, the epoxy and the primer, when you mix these two you make the primer more effective in adhering to the metal and you make the primer more water proof. Its like adding liquid plastic to the primer paint so that moisture or water cannot penetrate and reach the metal surface. So with this development maybe several coats of this primer will help isolate the metal when latex paint which is of course we all know is a water base paint, will be applied on top of the epoxy primer. If it was me who is gonna apply this latex paint, I would preffer using the BOYSEN ACRYLIC permacoat gloss latex paint, why ? because again the paint has an acrylic or polymer plastic mixture in it that binds the paint all together and makes it waterproof and glossy.

But then why make a chance, we have naman enamel oil based paints, flat wall, semi-gloss and the gloss paints to choose from. 😉 :p

Re: Simple Tool HOOKS & HANGERS

@ beedigo,

Thanks a lot friend, I just hope you did not get bored with the very simple WIPs. Hey I'm not boasting or being a show-off here ha, I'm just showing how I was able to some how organized my metal working tools inside the tool room. Actually hindi pa complete yan, still have to save up some more money for other tools pa needed.

Anyway, thanks again bro for having the patience in viewing the wips.

Re: Simple Tool HOOKS & HANGERS

Thanks po sir jonathan for your encouragement and support, I know the project was so so very simple but I really simply just wanted to share it with you guys, maybe you can too pickup some idea or two or maybe make a much better hooks and hangers than this project. 😉

I realized lately that I should have taken pics of before and after of the tool room so that we may see the difference now, well it did not enter my mind because I was excited to fix and organize the tools since I have already additional hooks/hangers but finding out in the end na kulang pa pala. 😮

Oh next time I'll try using the stainless steel so that there will be no more painting and will apply new approach or design and maybe more appealing to the eyes. :p

Thanks again for your support and it is well appreciated. :thanks:

Re: Simple Tool HOOKS & HANGERS

Oh before I forget, I'll be putting all of them tools and shelves down for a while 'coz I'll waterproof still the walls and paint it white to brighten the tool room plus probably put tiles or pebble washout on the floor para madaling linisan, anyway I have some more unused tiles stocked up and two more sacks of black fine pebbles in another bodega.

Maybe this will be another WIP to be posted and shared. THANKS PO AGAIN.
