Re: Welding Newbie

TIG is good as well but a much slower process plus harder to learn.

More expensive hardware too.

Yup those Millers are really expensive. Aside from its name and durability, its the aftersales that makes it expensive.

I asked our local machine shop here - He got a miller and a chinese migs. He said he cannot get the hang of his miller yet but his chinese is easier to learn and use. He also got a chinese TIG , he showed me how he tig welded 2 strips of aluminum foil together. Awesome!

Im really interested in doing a car panel and other thin metal stuff. and i was advised to get a TIG for this.

I will be using it for my occasional DIY projects anyway.
I think I'll get a chinese DC inverter TIG first. Edward (panda) is selling it for around 11k. Millers aside from being expensive i dont know if they have after sales support here.

Re: Welding Newbie

Most probably the TIG machine can do DC Stick welding too.

Can a DC TIG Machince do Aluminum? It would be nice if you could do a review of the Tig Machine Panda is selling.

This is a good Tig Machine but can't do stick welding.

Re: Welding Newbie

Something cheap and good to use for the occasional auto body and sheet metal work.

I ordered a set with blue handles but got black instead. Not a big deal.

Re: Welding Newbie

Re: Welding Newbie

@Ossie

Does your welder have the fixed position current adjustments or the one you can rotate slowly to get more fine settings?

How about the plan for the bender ( sketchup )?

Re: Welding Newbie

@JayL,
im using creston 200A welder that you can rotate for low/high current settings, i usually sets the current to higher settings then adjust if needed.

i didnt draw the plan via sketchup, but only on the paper hehehe coz sometimes during the actual project, many things comes in my mind (i need a chop saw, drill press to make things easier hahaha ang layo yata hehe) for better result and a drawing revision is needed. do you like me to post the plan ba? with measurements? etc... no problem, malakas kayo sa akin e hehehe
