Re: Welding Newbie

Ossie i got this from janmike @ sulit for info lang...

*What is gas and gasless wire? => Gas wires require gases like co2, argon or mix for proper welding. Without it welding is still possible but produces very weak or useless welds called porosity. Gasless wires on the other hand does not need gas to properly weld. It is a general purpose indoor and outdoor welding wire as opposed to gas wire which is generally indoor use.
*What is the difference with gas and gasless wire in terms of welds? => Gas wire with proper shielding gas have cleaner welds, perfect for very thin sheets and panels, stronger joins and much cheaper. Gasless are flexible wires that can be used on-site, perfect for thicker metals, rusty and contaminated metals.
*How do i know the right wire for my mig? => Generally a flux core wire is compatible to all kinds of mig AC or DC but it is highly recommended for DC type migs at DC Electrode Negative (DCEN) for optimum performance. However the size depends your migs rated amperage. A 90amp AC mig can only handle up to 0.8mm(0.030") wire ideally @ full power while a DC 90a mig can handle up to 0.9mm(0.035") @ half power. Remember to use the proper nozzle tip size. Gas wires require DC migs with proper shielding gas and as an example a 90amp DC mig in DC Electrode Positive (DCEP) is a minimum requirement for use with a 0.8mm(0.030") mild steel gas wire to obtain a satisfactory weld.
*Which wire size can i use for my mig? => AC migs can only use flux core wire. With a 90amp mig it can use up to 0.9mm wire @100amp up to 1.0mm , @120amp up to 1.2mm, @150a up to 1.6mm. DC migs can handle both GAS and GASLESS wire with 90a upto 1.0mm - 110a upto 1.2 - 135a upto 1.6mm.

OK yan bro dalhin mo sa EB Auto Darkening Helmet mo para makita namin. Ossie go go go na. Yan din talaga kailangan natin. Helmet muna.

Miller Korean made lens gamit nila pero mostly yung ibang brands China. Snap On nga China na mga lens nila.

Mahigit 9,000 views na welding related thread. Mukhang madami interested sa welding. Nag a antay lang siguro ng mga katulad ninyo na mga young ones pa at masipag talaga mag WIPs. Me potential lumaki members ng metal enthusiasts.
